Looks like the Twitter injection stopped the censoring algorith (at least for a while).

Thing 'Bridge'

The bridge pattern is a design pattern used in software engineering that is meant to "decouple an abstraction from its implementation so that the two can vary independently", introduced by the Gang of Four.[1] The bridge uses encapsulation, aggregation, and can use inheritance to separate responsibilities into different classes.

To make it simple for non ITlers, you can say its a kind of interface that will not change even the programming changes.

These kind of bridges would allow to either use a 'central algorithm' (censoring algorith) which is maintaines outside of the 'main' application and vice versa to collect information from different applications ('spy algorith'). Very easy to implement or lets say its a standard methode, but very powerful. Especially a good concept if you want to combine forces of GOOG, Twitter, FB, IG, etc…

So you think the 'central' algorithm for censoring is a bridge pattern structure used by social media like the ones mentioned?

This might be the database of the 'central' alrorithm.

Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter and YouTube today announced they would cooperate on a plan to help limit the spread of terrorist content online. The companies said that together they will create a shared industry database that will be used to identify this content, including what they describe as the “most extreme and egregious terrorist images and videos” that have been removed from their respective services.

The new database will be continually updated …

While the effort is beginning with the top social networks, the larger goal is to make this database available to other companies in the future, Facebook says.

“We hope this collaboration will lead to greater efficiency as we continue to enforce our policies to help curb the pressing global issue of terrorist content online,” states the post.

Given the recent discussions about the spread of fake news on social media, one hopes this new collaboration could potentially pave a path for the companies working together on other initiatives going forward.

The problem of false news also damages all of social media, and has raised questions about what role should the companies play in battling that content……

Inflation of censoring:

terrorist content -> extremist content -> hate speech -> 'fake news'

Facebook has said it will identify “trustworthy” news sources. …

To build its database the company is sending users lists of media organisations and asking them two questions: “Do you recognise the following websites?” and “How much do you trust each of these domains?”….

Facebook’s vice-president of newsfeed, said in a tweet that Facebook would analyse the publishers that different types of people rated to determine which were trustworthy….

(guess which ppl are the trustworthy ones?)

Renee diResta, who researches computational propaganda at the Data for Democracy think-tank, said tech companies should follow the framework they used to counter terrorist activity. This entailed creating the Global Internet Forum for Counter-Terrorism and an information-sharing platform that allows inappropriate material to be automatically removed from multiple sites.
