The upshot is that this is primarily a matter of definitions, and such arguments are purely semantic. No purely rational argument can be given either way on this particular issue.
The typical definition is that gender is "the behaviors and traits associated primarily with people of a specific sex." Of course, there are men who act feminine and women who act masculine. Moreover, there are men who act somewhat feminine and somewhat masculine, and women who act somewhat masculine and somewhat feminine. Someone reasonable would see this and come to the conclusion that such people are an entirely different gender - I think most of /pol/ would claim that such people present more as either masculine or feminine, and that such people are either "male" or "female" regardless.
It's generally not an argument worth having.

Its important to realize that gender and sex are different. Sex is the hard wired split between a man and a woman. Gender is the social construct that can make a man act as a woman or get full blown reassignment surgery. Its gender reassignment surgery but not sex reassignment, either to reinforce the lunacy or because perhaps there is some fine line between gender and sex. To the point the surgery cannot cross it.

I'll be honest I wasn't expecting this. It seems the consensus is that gender should be abolished completely. Interesting that's also what extreme social leftists believe. Horseshoe theory confirmed? JK of course. On the left it seems like they're not very big on taking sex into consideration for most things either excluding medical things (though some are even crazy enough to disregard that).

Remember that there is such a thing as gender, there are parts of male or female behaviour that are not genetic (knowing which restroom to use, etc). Also remember that each gender has a necessarily determine sex, the male sex is necessary for the man gender and vice versa. Or put it another way.
