Well I just learned that the liberal arts degree is a mistranslation. It comes from the Italian word liberi which means free man as opposed to slaves. The world is run by people who are so stupid they think Star Wars is science fiction.

K, so I was thinking about this tonight. 'Truth' is only a direction we want to head in and where we decide to go as a society. We should pursue the Truth that makes us happy. No 'gods'; no 'masters'; at least we wouldn't be required to tolerate letting priests use our children's assholes as a trampoline.

Back in the old days each railroad car had a wheel which was turned to set the brake. Those wheels are still there and are used for parking brakes. A railroad brake man would turn the wheel on a car then climb over the car to the next car to set the brake on it. Railroad brake men lasted 3 years because they fell off the train and were killed. This also caused a lot of train crashes. Some one it might have been Pullman developed a pneumatic brake that could be operated from the engine. Air pressure caused the brake to be off so if the air pressure failed a spring would force the brakes on. Strangely this innovation was fought by all the railroads which thought it too expensive. The unions also hated this. Cars were joined by a man who dropped a pin into an eyelet. These men lasted longer than brake men but ended up without any fingers. What I learned from this is managers with degrees in liberal arts will not do any thing sensible unless they are forced to be federal regulations. With modern education most managers will understand this 1800's technology. However they just keep falling behind in their ability to understand modern technology. Get rid of them they are not needed.

Have to agree with >>4708 . It is a nice way of thinking of it but really, all you are doing is mental masturbation.

It's a space opera, basically a soap opera but in space, at least that's what the original trilogy was supposed to be. Though, people tend to call anything set in space "science fiction", because it depicts worlds and societies that are more technologically advanced than us. Not sure where the problem is, there's more to SW than movies, there's the whole expanded universe.
