It's still bad. In fact it's probably worse.

Yeah it’s worse than fapping without porn. Porn messes up your brain. As a Christian I consider fapping a sin but it doesn’t affect you the way porn does. Also I would argue that it is impossible to succeed at nofap without also doing noporn. Inevitably you’ll either have to fap or have to stop looking at porn. While on the other hand it is much more likely that someone could do noporn but still fap. Not saying this because I support fapping, but because porn is enemy number 1 here.

How can you tell that this shit isn't just a placebo? As in, how can you tell that whatever benefits you are experiencing are not from the result of accepting a belief in something rather than clinical improvement?

It's impossible on your own to 100% prove it isn't placebo. Unfortunately, research on this topic is lacking.

I know that I went into this for moral reasons not expecting any actual benefits, and was pleasantly surprised by the results.

Even if it is just placebo (which I don't think it is), it improves our lives, so who cares.
