Also, you should post a sample of your voice some time.

Monster girl UTAU? Monster girl UTAU. Oniko Hinomoto and Teto are gonna have some company.
What other design ideas should be toss around for now? Going with a specific monster (or whatever idea we should run with) would make deciding character details a lot easier, since we'd have a framework instead of a general sense of "maybe red eyes if dubs". What do you think?

That would definitely make it easier. I don't know which one would be the best, but we could make a list of them, and then make a strawpoll or something like that.
Also, I think /monster/ has drawfriends, so maybe we could ask them to help us design the character after we finish her details.

Nice, that's very convenient.
I have another suggestion. It might be a good idea for her to have a second humanoid form, unless the monster girl is already very human-like.
People could make OC based on her second form if her main form is too difficult for them to draw. Also, MMD edits of her second form would be easier, and existing motions would work with them.

There's been a change of plans. I was busy yesterday and probably will be today, but my weekend is actually almost entirely free.
I'll do my very best to record at least ten sounds and test that in UTAU synth, as well as provide a ZIP with those ten sounds, by today (Friday). I'll probably do the vowels and the p-sounds; I don't have a pop filter so ぱ、ぴ、ぷ、ぺ、ぽ seem to be most likely to be the most ornery.
Assuming no issues, I should have time to record the full bank on Saturday/Sunday. I have a test on Monday but I won't be studying the whole weekend.
That being said, I'm hesitant to record the entire thing without an "okay this is decent you're good to go" for the sample I'll post today, so once I post that, could someone with PC UTAU give it a quick look?

Just curious before you go any further on recording, why didn't you do the VCV version sample first rather than choosing CV version. It sound nicer on VCV while Otoing imho.
No.11226

Because I'm not sure if I can hold a steady tone that long. As you can tell from the short samples I posted in the sample bank, I don't have any vocal training; I can't hold a note for very long.
…Then again, maybe recording VCV would be easier since I don't have to split each sample. I have some time tomorrow, I'll try some VCV strings and see if I can avoid dropping pitch.
Side note: Since uploading the sample on Friday took me much longer than I thought it would and cost me points in English homework, I'm wary of promising to have something by a certain date. I promise that if there's still interest here, I won't let this turn to vaporware, but I can't promise a full bank by any specific date. Once finals are over I should finally have large chunks of free time.
Is there anything you want me to focus on when I have a small chunk of time? Should I practice VCV or CV? also let's not forget we have to make the character

Bumping to say I'm still alive. There's an issue with my room's heater–it won't let off air, but it also creates white noise constantly. This will probably last through finals. Anyway, in the meantime, let's figure out what she looks like beyond "monster girl." Since Teto threads are the most popular here, maybe we could give her some sort of chimera traits…? Just an idea. Picture related.

Maybe, as long as she doesn't get too similar to Teto. If being a monster girl is her defining trait, I think it should stand out in some way (like with Momo's and Defoko's robot-like headsets for example).

This anon has a good point. PMD Editor doesn't work on my computer (voicer-with-a-Mac here), but I used to be part of the MMD community pray for me and know there's a lot of good parts on DA we can throw together. The fact that the best, least dramatic part of the overseas MMD community was on DA of all places completely boggles my mind.
Just keep in mind that sometimes people who take parts from other models sometimes don't delete the physics; for example, if you download Len's shirt, you might end up with Len's shirt with Len's hair physics being applied to a non-existent object. It doesn't matter if you're just tossing one custom part onto a model, but if you're making something fairly complicated like we are, if we're not careful, we'll end up with something that has literally thousands of extra physics, resulting in a monstrosity that crashes MMD.
TL;DR whoever makes the MMD model please give it a testdrive.
On a lighter note, wings already exist. They look flat in the picture but in the SWF preview they're actually two rows of feathers. Would this be what we're looking for, keeping in mind we can change size and color fairly easily? http://fav.me/d7i68w1
Also, this is late, but if >>5099 is here I just want them to know I ripped the mp3 from the video so I can listen to at demand. Considering Erusalem was an un-oto'd CV bank at the time (I think she got an OTO recently), that's pretty nifty!

Sorry for sameposting but I forgot to mention something potentially important.
<rant>
I own a Windows 7 computer at home, but my father's attempt to do a system restore before I had time to back it up last weekend resulted in…bad things. Essentially, my Windows computer is now corrupted and cannot boot up and is possibly beyond repair. I can't do a backup because it's trying to backup C "and" D (the built-in backup drive), which requires 300 GB on C to compress before backing up to an external hard drive, and who the fuck has 300 spare GB on a desktop computer they've had for two years?
I thought I would have access to a Windows machine over the summer and hence be able to test the voicebank myself (as I said before, UTAU Synth does not seem to accept some voicebanks; it accepts Tei's CVVC but not Erusalem's newest nor the beta bank I posted earlier). But if my Windows computer is truly borked, I will probably be stuck on this mac.
</rant>
Basically what I'm saying is that it seems like it's going to be necessary for someone with a Windows machine to:
1) OTO the bank unless we wanna go the same dark path as Rook and Erusalem and release an un-OTO'd bank
2) See if there's any inconsistencies when rendered through UTAU
I will check the raw samples myself, but I'll have no idea how they sound when they render if I don't have a functional Windows computer or functional UTAU-Synth (which is looking very likely).
For the record this is only the latest in electronic devices I have managed to ruin. Past causalities include an iPod Touch, my old laptop, an electric pencil sharpener, and a microwave. Therefore I humbly propose we make our monster girl very good at destroying things accidentally.
