Recently Sam put online the basic design document for the joyride game, and in all honesty, while interesting, it just looks like the ramblings of a teenager, and for someone that has been thinking about making a game for +3 years, it's amateur at best.
Not really taking into account that just making a good commercial 2D isometric shooter is something that requires experience, they(he) are thinking about adding different characters, gameplay mechanics, skilltrees and various crazy shit that sounds like whatever kid you ask around "what would you like in a game".
Videogames are a big market with a lot of competition, and I from my POV I don't see the appeal. I would like some sort of MDE "interactive CD-ROM" as they were called, I care about the aesthetic, humor and actual narrative, but trying to actually make a game (and trying to sell it to a bigger audience) is a fool's errand.
I really the book, was kinda hit or miss, but there was a lot of wacky content there, I think that the game will be a big endeavor with little to show more than (what probably will be) a mediocre 2D game.
Also, general MDE games and discussion.
