Sam uses the reddit page and you can actually get some updates on the book/game etc on reddit.
And this is largely why I occasionally use reddit, because often developers in games will post on reddit (or only listen to complaints posted on reddit) or actors/directors from shows etc only interact on reddit.
But even browsing the mde subreddit you can see how fucking bad the system is for such a small community, everyday new threads are made on the exact same topics and they will get 3-20 comments and then fall off of being "hot". Then another person will remake that threads again. The discussions can never actually develop into anything.
On larger subreddits you can actually get the discussions to develop into something, but then you have enough people browsing the sub to be able to silence/censor people with opinions that are different than the majorities (the voting issue isn't really a problem on the mde subreddit yet).
I seriously hate that fucking site, but unfortunately if you want to be "in" on some things, you need to use it.
