This is now the official /k/ news thread.

Post international or local /k/ related news.

Local French/German:

https://augengeradeaus.net/2019/02/deutsch-franzoesische-ruestungvorhaben-export-veto-nur-in-gravierenden-faellen/

France and Germany have settled upon a new weapons export deal.

After Germany stopped all export of arms and arms components to Saudi Arabia over that one murdered journalist in Turkey, many countries and neighboring countries were mad, because it meant that the international arms companies were now stuck with very specific goods and components that no longer had a buyer and that they could no longer sell unless they wanted to face charges in Germany.

In the Franco-German peace papers of Aachen (signed last month) it was decided that the two countries would cooperate when it comes to arms exports, and in accordance with that agreement, another contract was signed. The exact wording is in the linked article.

Basically it says that they will now only stop arms exports if both countries agree that it's an important issue. This severely cuts into the rights of the German government, and it might cause some dispute.

International/Iran:

(vid related)

Iran has claimed to have launched a missile from a submarine. State media released a video showing a tubular vehicle that looks suspiciously like a torpedo, leaving a launch tube of a submarine. Then the video cuts and shows how a missile is launched from the sea. It remains unclear if the video actually shows a successful sublaunch, or instead shows the launch from a boat with lots of water gushing about.

If Iran had (nuclear) second strike capabilities, and could keep their nukes at sea for prolonged times, it might be interesting how this affects the global balance.

But it's still in dispute.

Some bitch at Foxnews claimed that the pentagon thinks the missile was launched from a Juno class sub.
