But to give you the tl;dr: the hardest parts of making a gun from scratch is the barrel, and 3D printing can't help you with that. And even if you have a working gun you still need to make ammunition, which is quite a bit more complicated, and 3D printing won't make it any easier. The technology is really great for prototyping and making moulds, but that's all. It's not a magic solution to any problems.
