Strange. The file does not appear to work once uploaded.

Turns out I fucked up my FFMPEG. This version should work.

Didn't know this was a thing. That's pretty dope, anon.

>he didn't know about SSTV

You missed out anon. This is not only the way NASA and the Soviets got images from space, and even the moon landings, it's also prime shitposting space. Or at least it used to be.

I am amazed that streloks all over the world aren't hoarding plans for 80-meter systems for "long range" comms. I put "long range" into quotation marks because 80m is actually only considered medium range by comparison. But if 400km during the day and 4000km at dawn/dusk isn't long range for SHTF then I don't know what is.

The main problem with 80m is the antenna. A standard half-length dipolar antenna would be 40 meters, which is stupidly long. You could attempt to clamp off some high voltage powerlines in SHTF to get a horizontal antenna, or find some tower and let a long cable dangle down for a vertical one. Or you go for a loop by dangling two cables off some power-poles.

Why is nobody hamming it on /k/?

So you're telling me if I hook a bunch of wires on a bunch of abandoned radio towers I've claimed for my own purpose I can shitpost through my HAM?

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

>>608335

People did that for ages. See embed related. They don't claim antennas, they fucking build their own. 20m is the most popular at the moment, because it's rather resistant to low sunspot activity, and can actually get global reception on a very very good day. But with all the ham-shitters out there a 40 or 60 meter system would probably be best for streloks in SHTF to avoid detection.

How many of you shitheads didn't know SSTV was a thing? I don't even use it anymore, because muh "family friendly content only" that has been pushed for so fucking long, I still love to listen to the beeping noises though. Am I autistic?

I've got an array if that is the correct word of abandoned towers in the bush many of which needed basic maintenance on. Haven't a fucking clue on what was pinged off those towers given the locals and the guys who were building a new one gave me nothing I didn't already know. When it comes to radio all I know is callsigns and hit the button to broadcast.

You do know that the tower merely holds the antenna, right anon? The actual tower itself is in most cases NOT the antenna. If the towers were abandoned it is likely that the previous owner took out all receiving/sending equipment. and sold it off for cash. Industrial standards also differ quite a lot from Ham ones, and power requirements are entirely different.

If you really want to get into hammin' start small. Get some CB shit for your car and ham along with truckers and so on. It's the same as with image boards. LURK NIGGER LURK. You can get a good system with a microphone for less than 100 buckaroos. Read up on local legislation, maybe join a club to study for the license and leave immediately after, because those fags are always gay as hell and get a full license for all available systems from the start. Get a cheap base system, expand from there.

Most of these towers still have their shit on them, some of them have been pillaged by the injuns who were willing to make the journey. I figured a logging company threw most of them up when logging was in its prime, the one abandoned yard has a tower of some sort on it lying on the ground these days.. I know the government threw up some as well considering they built a new one beside one they threw up a year previous which they deactivated and said workers told me I had free pickings on everything including the solar panels.

>CB

Woods are too thick for them to be any use here, also I don't have any highways on my side of the things, besides that I'm on a bike. They are nice for shitposting in more populated areas.

>free solar panels

Fuckin' great deal anon. Get to salvaging!

ae2d50  No.608373

>>608368

Spending a whole day hiking panels out isn't fun, besides that I got a dam that provides enough power as is.

You can skip CB and go straight for a 20m band system then. The base system costs less than 200 dollarydoos if you don't get merchanted, then add an antenna for cheap and change, and start hamming intercontinental memes into the air.

Actually, considering you are Canadian, LURK before you even think about hitting transmit. Not only is this more polite, but maybe there are some other hammers near where you live who have "strong opinions" about "politics" and "correctness" (read as: stuck up moralfags). They might have too much time on their hands and report you.

Read legislature, get a license. It's just like guns.
