>he didn't know about SSTV
You missed out anon. This is not only the way NASA and the Soviets got images from space, and even the moon landings, it's also prime shitposting space. Or at least it used to be.
I am amazed that streloks all over the world aren't hoarding plans for 80-meter systems for "long range" comms. I put "long range" into quotation marks because 80m is actually only considered medium range by comparison. But if 400km during the day and 4000km at dawn/dusk isn't long range for SHTF then I don't know what is.
The main problem with 80m is the antenna. A standard half-length dipolar antenna would be 40 meters, which is stupidly long. You could attempt to clamp off some high voltage powerlines in SHTF to get a horizontal antenna, or find some tower and let a long cable dangle down for a vertical one. Or you go for a loop by dangling two cables off some power-poles.
Why is nobody hamming it on /k/?
