/k/ I regretted a purchase and I don't want to resort to selling it because no one should ever sell a gun.
I bought a Remington 783 a few months back because it was cheap and I never shoot it after I sighted it in because I realized I kind of enjoy open iron sights more so than using a scope like using the iron sights on a Mosin for example. I kind of want back up irons on this thing just in case and every where I looked I can't seem to find a way to simply replace the barrel with a barrel with integrated iron front sights. I kind of want to turn it into a temporary scout rifle like the ones Ruger has but I don't want to buy a whole other gun considering something like what I want would double the cost of this rifle vs modifying this one non permanently. I would rather just swap the barrel and put a rear sight in if I can so I don't do any permanent modifications.
Can something like this work? Just slap it near the end of the barrel and mount a front iron sight on? I know the rear and front sight might not be aligned and will need to be calibrated correctly. I don't want to use that because it looks stupid. I prefer an integrated one onto the barrel or something else that doesn't look all that bulky that I can slap on.
