Anyone know a cheap non-shitty piece of glass that isn't going to shoot five inches to the right at 30 yards after an afternoon of walking? I'm asking because my eyes are shit and I'm too poor to afford glasses, so using no scope is out of the window past 10 yards, yet at the same time the cheapest way to get my eyes checked costs a good $60+$20 for the actual glasses, which I can't afford. Yet still, I need food so I can you know, eat, but every scope people recommend as not being completely useless in every possible way is easily above $60 if not above $100. Sounds impossible but my budget is basically $40, which is half of the price of my gun. It doesn't need to hold perfect zero, it doesn't need to shoot well past 100 yards, all I need is something that can let me actually see the squirrel or deer at 50 yards or so and be within 3".

>inb4 get a job.

I'm trying to man, but I need to eat until I hear back from people and squirrel season is in a few weeks.

Fairbairn sykes knife schematics for you knifefags out there.

I can't even see a human 20 yards, I explained why I'd really struggle to do that. Don't get me wrong, if I have to I'll sit all fuckin' day and wait until a deer or squirrel gets so close to me I could grab it, but for obvious reasons I'd rather not.

.22 for squirrel and 12ga slugs for deer. Once deer season opens up I'll switch the scope onto the shotgun and re zero it to that. Or I could get some bird shot and get squirrel that way, not sure yet.

A Tasco 3-9 power would be up your alley, but it'll be obliterated by the shotgun though.

This is incredible for the price, in America and with a brand name it would be a $500-700 scope.

Downside:

It's not sealed against elements very well, so it will let in moisture, but if you put it in a ziploc with some rice or silicate, the moisture goes away.

Upside:

The 3-9 is the magnification. It can be 3x to 9x zoom, meaning the image will be 9x larger than what the normal eye can see at that range. See pic, up to you if you can shoot that, I think it would be an easy shot. The 56 number is the size of the collector lens in mm. The issue with magnification is the higher up you go in magnification, the lower your light levels get, which is to say that collectors gather only that much light before forcing it through the magnifying lens. Most lenses for hunting are around 20mm and cost about $80… in practical terms at 9x magnification using a 20mm lens you will get 7.8 TIMES less light than at 9x magnification using 56mm. Again see pic for the difference.

BTW it's a $30 scope if you don't want to click the link.

I just prefer to see the target more than being able to focus 1000x to "theoretically" see the nosehairs on a deer while in reality seeing only a black blur.

I need a scope for the shotgun too, so unfortunately that might not work. Still thanks.

I'll consider this one, I'll also need to pick up a 3/8th dovetail to weaver or picatinny converter and do some research on if its even possible to convert a ventilated rib on a shotgun to a weaver or picatinny rail but those are fairly simple I figure. Thanks leaf.
