so I bought one of these impact sports to use at my range because the earmuffs they have there are worn and disgusting

but I have noticed that they are insufficient even with 22lr

I have tried stuffing them with studio foam but it's still not enough

any sugestions?

1 cent earplugs do fine to stop potential ear damage & dampen noise, and over here we deal with people shooting .50 BMG indoors. Get used to the sound, then you won't flinch

Did you turn them on/put batteries in them?

of course

Double up. Use the noise amplification to hear people speak over it.

>they are insufficient even with 22lr

Not even children need hearing protection for 22lr dude.

Anyways you only need regular earplugs underneath and you're good to go!

Have you tried putting them on?

Were you wearing shooting glasses? If it doesn't seal properly then sound is let in.

If not, get some good silicone multi flanged plugs.

Why silicone and not foam? Whenever I look in stores the expanding foam plugs have a slightly better NRR than the silicone.

Agreed. The noise amplification brings sound levels to no earpro, but the ear plugs are definitely needed.

silocone ones can be washed and used multiple times. Foam ones are one-and-done, otherwise they get fucking vile and disgusting after multiple uses.
