I get the benefits associated woth full length rails, I only suggested this becauss I've been under the impression that partial rails reduce the overall cost (due to less complicated machining as you don't have to hold a very tight tolerance over a long operation) and also reduce weight somewhat.
>Literally every single heavy barrel 1911 does this.
I'm a semi-poorfag so I haven't ever looked into Kimbers. It's neat that they do this but kind of stupid that a cost-saving feature is only found on luxury-priced 1911s.
>You're the sort of dude that would get drug to a bar that's 99% horny coeds and end up taking home the one trap.
I never said I like the H9 or that I like polymer "wonder 9's", my only point was that it's amazing how long it took someone to combine the best feature of the most popular classic handgun platform with the most popular modern handgun format.
On another note, how much slide wear should one expect to see after ~1,000 rounds? It's sort of hard to see in this picture but the slide has completely worn through the parkerized finish on my 1911 although it hasn't visibly progressed much recently. I keep the rails greased with Super Lube (food safe PTFE grease) so I think I'm fine but I'd hate to ruin my favorite handgun due to inattentiveness.
Secondly, is it worth detail cleaning the gun at this point? I've never fully stripped it and I'm more worried about introducing sources of unreliability than preventing them as this point. I've only had one FTF (shitty Monarch ammo with fuckhard primers) and one FTC on cheap Blazer ammo during my last range trip. That was caused by a hangup on the feed ramp when chambering the first round by hand so it might just be human error. That's pretty solid reliability IMO so I think I've done a good job keeping her in tip top shape but if it's time to take the plunge, I might as well.
