Protection orders are predicated upon some awfully vague and broad 'including, but not limited to' evidence. Drinking, mental health (whatever nonsense that means), previous so called violent crimes, domestic abuse, etc.. In addition, taking away someones' rights without a crime having been committed, and without a jury trial, seems a due process violation, even if it's "temporary". So are most prison sentences.
This bill was signed under the pretext of preventing another school shooting. Never mind that the Broward County cops were corrupt and didn't follow up on obvious threats, more restrictions and laws are enacted against everyone -but- the cops and politicians who screwed up.
Pic related was the first guy to lose his firearms under a protection order. He shot out the back window of the car his best friend was driving away in after an argument over him not giving him back his phone. He used a glock. They SWATed him after he refused to give up his rifle and ammo.
