There's no discharge in the war!

I and cant afford firearm ownership yet(no I am not under 18).

I am very fascinated by shooting and was lucky enough to buy a used 7.5 Joule (unregulated in my country) airgun fairly cheap.

I have 2.5 years of archery expirience and around 70-100 rounds shot in the military.

So I am beginner to shooting.

pic related is 10 shots. first the 5 on the left then the very scattered 5 on the right. (I felt my shoulder shaking at those last 7 shots)

its from 11.5m

Do you think I have potential?

How do you(expirienced shooter) practise?

c54596 No.583891

It's difficult to gauge your potential with a weapon as anemic as the airgun. Can be done, however. I typically set up various targets, like aluminum cans, and practice hitting them from various distances and positions, general sport shooting.

As long as you aren't blind as a bat, and don't suffer from early onset parkinsons, you can train to be a decent shooter. If your shoulder is shaking, your position is not comfortable enough. Maybe the ergonomics of the airgun is insufficient? Try a bipod and a rear bag.

Pic related is 500m with a .308.

A slingshot or crossbow is more useful, and will teach you more about firearms safety and use than an airgun. An airgun will teach you more about how to handle/maintain a gun though.

bb67bb No.583903

I use an underlever in my practicing. The biggest thing it's taught me is to get your eyes as close to the sights as possible on a rifle- it locks everything else into position for shooting and tightens up groups like nothing else I've done.

I wouldn't call it shitposting if it's true, norwaybro.

bb67bb No.583911

Also the fact that you have your cheekbone so locked onto the gun and your body bladed just so means recoil is actually reduced by a large amount- the reason people get black-eyes with hard-kicking guns is because they give the rifle too much free space to play with. The entire reason my 45-70 has taken large men off balance when they have a go is because of this.

Thanks, helpfull answer. Well I was shooting from a standing position with 1 foot in front.

Any supported position isnt really worth it as the pellet loses flying stability after ~50m anyway.

I guess I will search for rifle holding tutorials on yt.

you have to maintain an airgun? How exactly?

Do I have to clean the barrel from led?

858d65 No.583975

>>583974

Airguns do build up residue in them. Also the seals need to be maintained and such.

018c6e No.583978

>>583975

I dont understand, how am I supposed to maintain the seals? They must be changed at best.

And what residue do you talk about?

led? water?

I am seriously confused.

858d65 No.583981

>>583978

Anyway. The residue I speak of is lead build up, usually speaking it doesn't become a real problem until it actually can be seen in the rifling. Seals if I recall just need a bit of oil from time to time unless they're worn down which requires a change.

Depends on if its rifled. Also back when I had one (30 years ago) stoppages were common with an airgun.

An airgun can have top tier precision. Maybe get a 2nd hand Anschutz? Keep practicing, my dude. Also check out the airgun thread in the catalog.

What the fuck? I shoot more than twice that in a single range trip.
