Recently, I've picked up a new gun. Springfield XDE 9mm. I've been using a single belt clip on my Springfield XDS 45, and it's not really doing it's job anymore. I've been looking for suitable holsters that will do either of them. However, I'm fairly new to the holsters, and I haven't got the slightest clue which would be the best to try out.

Several of the guys at Sportsmans Warehouse said to start with OWB, and become comfortable with that. That brings up the question, 9mm or 45 for Conceal carry? Also brings up, which is a good brand? I've had several former Army and Marine Corps buddies tell me Gunfighters Inc is one of the best to buy. The other problem I'm having, is that if I squat down, the butt of my gun pops out, or it falls out completely. I had a Captain in the USMC scare the ever loving crap out of me about it. Anyways, I'm looking to buy 1 to start with. I'm leaning towards the Gunfighters Inc Ronin 2.0 for my XDS.

tl;dr

IWB or OWB for first holster.

To give you some physical specs of me..

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 350lbs

Shirt: 3XLT / 4XL

I generally wear shorts in the Spring, Summer, and fall. Depending on where I work, shorts in the Winter.

Why are you asking about 9mm vs .45? 81mm is always the way to go when looking for the best in cc technology.

I carry .40, but just carry what feels best for you. 9mm and up will lay Jamal down. Just use some decent defense ammo like federal HST

>IWB vs OWB

For cc, IWB is more concealed. As an individual with your physical characteristics, lose some weight fatty avoid appendix carry. If going IWB, carry 4 o'clock position. Only time I would carry OWB is with a full size handgun innawoods.

Also get a decent gun belt that keeps the gun flush against your side to prevent printing.

With my setup, I carry everywhere completely under the radar in any attire, even shirt tucked in if need be. I live an active lifestyle and carry comfortably. I can work under cars, ride my bike, drive my car, etc. without printing or discomfort. Pic related is my setup: P2000sk .40 / Alien gear holster

Quality matters with holsters. If you go all or partial leather, make sure you break it in. I went leather backing on a Kydex holster and it feels like the best of both worlds. YMMV

>>577066 makes a ton of good points; belt, IWB being more concealable, placement.

Just got a T.rex arms Nomad for IWB carry. Been using it for the last week. Super light, very comfortable for a kydex holster.

I also have an alien gear 3.5 coming in eventually that I'm going to test out.

As far as what i carry, I have a FNS 9C. Conceals well in my work clothes, can hardly feel it when I'm around town wearing jeans or shorts. It also comes in. 40 sw.

IWB

>9 or 45

45

you have to go IWB because it gives you such a huge tactical advantage and because you can still carry in stores where they prohibit guns because they can't tell if you have a gun if you have a good holster that doesn't print. 45 because 9mm is a weak round.

and only use Galco holsters, because they're the best quality, specifically their King Tuk holsters.

if you still choose to go OWB, then you must have a retention-holster so some asshole doesn't pull your gun on you. Go with the Blackhawk Serpa holster, I love it. Plenty of bullshit on how it's a bad holster; it's not, there's just a ton of self-important morons in the gun "community."
