There's no discharge in the war!

So I must ax you a /k/westion, /k/….

Thoughts on the spaghetti surplus 92s rolling around the market rn? I know that they're mostly in good shape, and are barely more expensive than a Makarov rn. I have numerous handguns already so this wouldn't be for SD, CC or HD in my case.

Aspects I know to be inferior to a 92FS:

-Bad sights, no 3-dot. Mak-style blades.

-Heel-button release. Superior to Mak but weird location.

These do take regular 92 mags as long as there is a release hole at the bottom.

Thoughts on the value of these guns? Mostly into it for the low price, "muh 80s, muh Die Hard and muh surplus value".

oh, and forgot to ask. Do these take later 92-style sights?

bb2cc0 No.571976

I would buy two, one to keep in original condition, one to update with modern sights if possible. It would be nice to have a shooting gun that you don't have to baby it.

I was considering getting one, planned on making it look like a stars pistol as a small project.

26f8a7 No.572009

I bought one of the ones off classic a while back. It's a nice little gun, but needed some cleaning because it was very used and likely mistreated. All better now though.

That would be a cool project. If you do be sure to share pics

Ditto, bought mine from classic back in December and cc'd it til recently. Mine looks just like the OP, but the decocker lever is a blade instead of the knurled knob. Going to swap the trigger spring for a double action pull that isn't as heavy, put some thinner grips on to accommodate for my babby hands, and paint the front blade soon. Other than that I love it. Shoots more accurate than me, not much recoil, and mags are cheap.

They're good to go mate, buy three.

Can Italians own 9mm? Don't you have a "military calibers" ban or some such? I remember when Samco (RIP) had .45 HP in stock that I was told came out of Italy. For those not in the know .45 HP is just .45 ACP that's something like a millimeter shorter to get around a military calibers ban.

It's gradually going away but it's still in limbo

the importing company already did, so you're not getting more money, Mr Spaghettio

884976 No.572471

You can't replace 92 iron sights unless you got specific submodels. you'll have to make do with the fixed 2 dot sights or whatever model you have.

4b7a15 No.572552

>>572471

Well, not easily. Could always mill the sights off and dovetail for a replacement.

long term value of these is extremely poor. they are basically ghetto tier. but in the short term, they are robust and easy to shoot, and so have pretty good practical value. if you cause corrosion or cosmetic damage, not worries, because they started that way. on the other hand, its a purchase that some people don't feel great about. lets face it, aesthetics and feel do matter, and there's only so much time you can spend shooting. theres something especially great about shooting a crisp new 92 that you won't get from the surplus guns.

911024 No.572760

>>572697

So how would you call it ghetto-tier? I understand these would not be worth something short-term but would their long term value be THAT bad? Some of them are in really good shape and they’re also a rarer early model 92 as opposed to the widely distributed 92FS.

5804f7 No.572768

>>572697

Its a good, robust 9mm pistol that can be bought cheaply enough to stockpile a few.

4b7a15 No.572778

>>572697

Ghetto tier? These are quality firearms. Heavily used but they're not some zamak trash. These are cheap enough they will at least maintain their value over time.

it's not just a little common, it's common globally. much of the surplus is just not in good shape, just like what you'd see on the streets. but i might have been too harsh.. some people do get them in good quality, or sometimes you have to option to pay more for less abused guns.

I don't know what you've been seeing but all the recent 92S surplus batches have been good to excellent in condition. Not the turd-world special you just attached a photo of.

Have you actually seen the ones we're talking about? It doesn't seem like it.
