greeting streloks and other 3rd parties

today i got myself a US surplus E-Tool

why did i do this? because it is a versatile tool thats why

but thats not why i am making this thread, see i have a problem with my E-Tool, the guy i got it from decided it would be an aboslutely wunderbar idea to spray paint the fuck out of it

now for many things this wouldnt be that much of an issue, but the problem i have is that it got its way into the screw threads that lock the shovel, so that means that it doesnt function properly (at all) as is intended

>tl;dr got a spraypainted E-Tool that has spray paint in the threads preventing it from moving at all

<inb4 someone says "why didnt you inspect it?"

i havent been to this store before and i get social anxiety

so how would a strelok go about fixing this issue?

I'd get a pipe wrench out and wrap the nut with an old towel. Turn that nut for its full travel and wipe the threads off. But I'm a crude bastard. Maybe get some paint remover from the hardware store? There's this orange oil based stuff that works pretty good.

i already tried to use the wrench thing but it just turned the entire tube and not the nut

only thing i can think it to soak it in paint thinner/remover for several hours

I'm not sure that you're doing it right but you're the one that's doing. Keep going Strelok, and make this work for you.

Strip the paint and re paint it properly.

That's probably a good first step. Let it sit a day, then try and pull it all apart for a real cleaning.

paint stripper and penetrating oil after, or

a second pipewrench as a backup to keep the handle from spinning or whatever, or

just go buy another e-tool

UPDATE; i have decided that i dont have the inclination to fix it, with or without fucking it up further, so i went back and the guy exchange it for a functioning one with no issues

>tl;dr i got a functioning replacement
