If you get the "resist ending" the game is pretty well turned on its head with the antagonist going from crazy doomsday cultist to absolutely correct. It is VERY easy to reinterpret this game to justify the actions of Joseph Seed at that point, as all the player managed to accomplish was dismantling the Eden Project (that wasn't, in and of itself, illegal) and killing hundreds in the process

Want to know how insane these people have gotten? If you google "Far Cry 5 Bad Ending" do you know which one shows up? It's not the ending in which the world is enveloped in nuclear fire. It's the ending in which you decline to fight Seed and instead you and your friends leave the compound. The ending in which your friends aren't killed in nuclear hellfire is the "bad" ending because you were letting the ebil religious man go unarrested.
