Now for background:
I post here once in a while, but just with hypothetical questions. I'm a strong proponent of gun rights, as is much of my family, but I've never owned one myself. I like them, but I've always kind of seen owning one as a luxury I didn't have money for, because I figure if I want to get one I should get something really good instead of something cheap that isn't accurate and will require a ton of maintenance. My older brother has a ton of military experience and owns several guns (He lives 8 hours away though, so I can't just go ask to use his.)
Recently I was working for the elections office. The story overall is a little cringy. I was asked to work the elections because I tend to be free when they need me, and this area is heavily Democrat and they always struggle to find sufficient Republicans as each side is supposed to have the same number of representatives. This year went pretty well if slow, but we had one unusual voter come in. A tall loud man. When he came in we asked what we ask everyone "Are you voting in the Republican or Democrat primary?" he screamed "WHAT DOES IT MATTER?! DEMOCRAT!" He continued screaming that he'd just gotten out of rehab, and that it was racist red state bullshit that he had to have an ID (he didn't bring one so we had to turn him away.) He returned a couple hours later, still screaming about everything from racist red states to socialist Democrats which set everyone on edge in part because the polling location was at a public elementary school. On his way out he apparently decided to flash the secretaries at the front.
Security was no where to be found, so being the largest guy in the room, I was asked to go sit at the front just in case he came back. I thought it silly at first as he'd already voted, but once all the kids came piling out I decided it better there be some buffer between them in case he did come back.
Several people texted me after work, among them my mom. I thought was a cute story, and by far the most interesting thing to happen at work, so I told her about it. She flipped out saying I wasn't hired to be security and I wasn't armed and could have been killed. Subsequently the "You need to get a gun" talk has resparked. She's brought it up virtually every time we've spoken since.
For my part, I mostly just watch gun videos on youtube. I like experimental weapons, futuretech, flashy stuff. I just watch it for entertainment. I saw a review (different from the one in OP) of the Volquartsen Scorpion, and the reviewer claimed it was the single most accurate commercially available handgun. That alone was a very convincing pitch to me.
The rest of the sales pitch was pretty compelling to me as well. The DLC coating means the gun fires very reliably with little need to clean, it weighs only 1.2lbs, it's quiet, and it's great for learning to shoot with.
Then I was it was a .22. In the right place I'm sure that'll kill, but I'm going to guess that's sufficiently less stopping power? What would be the best uses for a gun like this?
Also I was looking at a bunch of videos with that girl and was considering posting a separate topic because she's hot, and noticed she had a review of the gun I wanted to discuss, so two birds with one stone.
