It is beefed up and securely mounted to the new trunnion+rear sight block. The front of the gas tube is more loosely attached to the gas block. I believe czech have a similar aftermarket part for regular AK on the civilian market, some ameriburgers did similar DIY modifications using aluminium gas blocks. It's is a conceptually solid idea, not sure how it works in practice.

The new Muzzle break Flash hider hybrid seems like a nice addition and moving the front sight is also good.

It's not a bad update, but it isn't a new rifle. Funnily enough, I'm sure a working AK-12 would be a great seller. Same with the modernized AD rifle seen here >>561002, Dragunov was ahead of his time, that thing was the first SCAR-like rifle almost 30 years before the scar became a thing.
