Commandos want a car they can disguise into different ones, on the fly. Kind of like a modular truck. A common engine and frame, transmorph into various car types (Hilux, Landcruiser…Kamaz) with the addition of body panels and exterior etc. Currently we're using a dozen different commercial truck variants, having one design that can be changed 20 ways til sunday, but still has the same basic internals, would simplify things.

Little birdie also told me that commandos want this vehicle because they're planning to pull off massive insurgency ops in East Europe and Central Asia, but we have nothing in our inventory that looks like a Ural sedan….. and Russia is sure to notice if a CIA shell starts buying up 1000s of Urals. Basically deep stagte wants us to be bad guys again, like we were in the 1990s except a larger scale that may involve Russia.
