Because they keep nominating fucking Gary "dude weed I'll make you bake that cake uuuuhleppo" Johnson for the presidential ticket for some fucking reason, especially last time when he had Bill Weld as a running mate, someone who was an anti-gun governor of Massechusetts. I don't know where he even keeps finding money to keep running. It's funny, the Libertarian Party did get an electorial vote from Texas in the 2016 election, but the faithless elector actually voted for Ron Paul instead of Johnson, probably as a giant fuck you to Johnson for being such a cuck. The Libertarian Party, while making giant gains in recent years in terms of the popular vote in presidential elections, and actual elected officials in lower ranked positions like state and local governments, is a giant clusterfuck across the party. There are way too many ideological differences between most people in the Libertarian Party which prevents it from actually becoming a major threat to the Dems or Republicans.

If any of you have a desire to read the actual bill heres the link. What ive read so far is atrocious.
TL;DR Basically you wont be able to buy, sell, transfer, or manufacturer "assault weapons" (see definition below its incredibly broad and includes semi auto pistols, rifles, and shotguns) after the date this bill is passed. But you will still be able to buy, sell, transfer, or manufacturer weapons made before the date that this bill passes(see (2) paragraph)
here I'll set out copy past verbatim the important parts (the stuff that restricts gun ownership) what the bill says and the definitions related to are. The bill has other stuff but it basically exempts police officers, government employees, and the government from the bill. page 1 through 15 are basically definitions. page 16 line 10 is where the bill states what is and isn't allowed and what is exempt.
>To regulate assault weapons, to ensure that the right to keep and bear
arms is not unlimited, and for other purposes.
>This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Assault Weapons Ban of 2017’’.
>(1) It shall be unlawful for a person to import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, a semiautomatic assault weapon.
>(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to the possession, sale, or transfer of any semiautomatic assault weapon otherwise lawfully possessed under Federal law on the date of enactment of the Assault Weapons Ban of 2017.
>(3) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to any firearm that (A) is manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action;(B) has been rendered permanently inoperable; or (C) is an antique firearm, as defined in section 921 of this title.
It then goes on to define ‘semiautomatic assault weapon’ as
>‘‘(A) A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any 1 of the following:
‘‘(i) A pistol grip.
‘‘(ii) A forward grip.
‘‘(iii) A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock.
(iv) A grenade launcher or rocket launcher. (v) A barrel shroud. ‘
(vi) A threaded barrel.
>‘‘(D) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any 1 of the following:
(i) A threaded barrel.
(ii) A second pistol grip.
(iii) A barrel shroud.
(iv) The capacity to accept a detachable
>(F) A semiautomatic shotgun that has any 1 of the following:
(i) A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock.
(ii) A pistol grip.
(iii) A fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 5 rounds.
(iv) The ability to accept a detachable magazine.
(v) A forward grip.
(vi) A grenade launcher or rocket launcher.
>(G) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
>H) All of the following rifles, copies, duplicates, variants, or altered facsimiles with the capability of any such weapon thereof:
This last part goes on to name about 205 different kinds of specific rifles ex:
>All AK types, including the following:
(I) AK, AK47, AK47S, AK–74, AKM, AKS, ARM, MAK90, MISR, NHM90, NHM91, Rock River Arms LAR– )

(i) a slide that partially or completely encloses the barrel; or

Trump backstabs his supporters, which blackpills everyone and makes them either not vote at all, or vote for his opposition out of spite.
The kicker is he can pass whatever cuck bills congress wants since he's not really even bothering with pretending to oppose them anymore.

If the executive and legislative branches go through with this, is there any hope of the judicial branch putting a stop to it? For all the 2A violations they've let by, this is a new level of explicitly and unabashedly anti-constitutional insanity, and even the slightest shred of integrity should be enough for a judge to refuse to accept it. No. The Supreme Court won't even hear 2A cases when there is a circuit split (when two federal circuit courts disagree, as is the case with Kolbe v. Hogan and the state assault weapons ban).
Additionally it is an issue that the Supreme court won't even slap down injunctions illegally issued by renegade judges.

It really annoys me that my family has been accusing me of being a diehard Trump supporter since he began his campaign. All I ever did was consider the Left's hysteria over him to be completely irrational, since I could tell he would never be what everyone on both sides claimed he would. I never expected him to go quite this far the other way, but I certainly knew he wouldn't come close to what he pretended to be in his campaign.
What really worries me generally about his term, aside from specific catastrophes like this, is what it's doing to the Overton window. The MAGA crowd was convinced it would shift in their favour, but I knew it was going to go hard left instead. With the media going so berserk about how far right he is, obviously his policies are perceived as far right by many. But with him doing so little to justify the doomsaying of the media, those policies are in reality anything but, so the result is a bunch of not-particularly-radical policies that everyone associates with radical views. Now there's a "right wing extremist" who's talking about the evils of "assault weapons". There's not even any room left on the spectrum for being pro-gun. And on top of it all the polarization is accelerating too.
The worst part of that for me is that I'm not even all that right wing, when you use a reasonable standard. While I pretty much never find myself wholly agreeing with the left, there are plenty of issues where I think they are more along the right lines than either the neocons or the, if you'll pardon the term, alt-right. Usually cases where they draw a partially correct conclusion with the wrong reasoning. But with politics in the state they are, the Left condemns my views even on those topics as being far-right, while the Right tells me I'll be first to go on the Day of the Rope. There's ever less room for people to evaluate issues independently based on their principles, and ever more pressure urging them to just pick a side and take the good with the bad. I can't think of anywhere that isn't going hard on ideological purity, and I don't know of anywhere where I could post my views on any issues without at least some risking of them leading to a ban or a useless stream of vitriol that precludes any real discussion.

You can buy a lower receiver which is the serialized part of the gun and the only part that's legally considered a firearm and it'll cost you somewhere between $50 & $100. I'd get an Anderson lower and just order a bunch of standard magazines that are ~$10 on the internet. You want to avoid polymer lowers and stick with the aluminum. I'll probably see if I can get a lower or two tomorrow if my local gun store still has them in stock.

Okay, I know fuck-all about guns. I'm not a soccer mom but all I know about guns is from when I played CoD 4 as a kid.
So I should buy a lower receiver (stripped?) and some magazines. I can keep it at one of my uncles' or aunts house. or my cousins who also have rifles. They (my relatives) know me and trust me (my parents are indoctrinated cucklibs who will absolutely not have a gun in the house.) I'm over 18 but I'm not about to bring a gun into my apartment. Not until I have my own place.
I want something that will hold up because I obviously want this to work just as well, to protect my future family, wife and kids, when I'm in my 40's, just as it would in my 20's. I can spend a bit now on whats necessary and buy the rest years down the road as needed.
So you think an Anderson lower would be a good value? What would be the benefit of going for a $500 receiver instead of a $100 one? How do I make sure im not getting jewed?
769068 No.556516
>>556506
You are getting jewed by buying the more expensive lower. Unless you truly the styling of the lower from the "top tier" brand you are just wasting money on a brand.
Get any lower that you can afford that is mil spec, Anderson is fine that's what I have on my cheapo AR-15 build. After that you can get the other parts when you are ready to finish it, the lower is the only thing that has the serial that needs to go through the FFL.
If you just want a AR that functions enough for as cheap as possible just look at: https://www.palmettostatearmory.com/, they have a bad rep but w/e I used their parts they work fine. Customer service sucks and their lowest tier components are the one that gets harped on the most, just stick with the "premium" line and you will be fine.

They're all the same unless they're on the full auto registry Wayne LaPierre Laval closed (remember this whenever you're asked to donate to the NRA).
Then buy this

Use code m8x for 10 bucks off (don't use it for the above, they're one per account and the minimum is lower on m8x)
Don't delay! These sales will expire soon even if there wasn't panic buying because of the NRA's fuckup.
110e40 No.556518
>>556506
don't get a stripped one unless you want to buy all the springs and internals. get an aluminum or steel lower as it will handle more abuse and last longer than a polymer one. you can buy a complete upper to put on your lower or build an upper from parts. you're probably better off with a complete upper. Pick an upper that is advertised as milspec from a manufacturer like BCM (you can choose barrel length but make sure you get one with a full length gas system not a carbine one) and one with a barrel length above 16 inches (so it is legal and not one of those 14.5 inch pinned brake m4 clones). the lower attaches to the upper and then you have an ar
f19f8e No.556519

ZOGemperor hasn't taken DACA off the table yet. As far as I know it's facing indefinite extension through the courts because he won't take a stance to strike the EO from the books. Once it's been dealt with you can brag about the worries over it, but while that demographic hammer yet hangs over our heads, there isn't much point in belittling worries about it.

There is no winning in this direction. The base is now panicked. The appropriate and most simple move to gain political capital was to make a stand and say we will not let tradgey dictate our rights. But no, we have to fold like paper for common sense.

There is literally no way this could turn out well.
The absolute best case right now looks to be nothing happening, and any proposed bills fizzling out. Even if that happens, the damage of even someone who's Literally Hitler declaring support for AWB 2.0 will not go away. Even if no legislation gets passed, it has become more culturally unacceptable than ever to be pro-gun. Harder than ever for someone not raised with guns to become open to the idea of becoming a gun owner. More common than ever for gun enthusiasts to be openly lambasted, even by their own families, as homicidal maniacs one step away from mass murder.
Even a bait and switch will not be a victory. It is too late for that; it's already a defeat. The only thing that remains to be seen is how severe. If you insist on calling it 4d chess, then Trump has sacrificed America's queen and let the king be put in Check. All we can hope for is that it's not Mate, and maybe that he at least took a pawn in the process.

are coming out openly with anti-trump memes from 2016 due to how radically the shift has changed. Its almost as bad if not worst than the trump russia thing on reddit that I firsthand saw happen back when I even went on that fucking shit site. Suddenly everyone has a concrete opinion that no-one can denounce unless the tidal wave of do-gooders will come to set the record and tell that russia bot or shill to fuck off since any opinion other than trump being a russian plant is obviously from a russian plant or a right wing-drumpf troll supporter. No question as to how this massive shift happened, how trump the shitty buisness man became trump the vile russian plant that was a russian supporter and piss prostitute lover all along. No question as to why he is like this as well or why else he could be running for elections, there has to be a russian connections for russian interrests for him to try and become president, any other explanation is just some russian/right-wing conspiracy talk that is just nonsense and everyone knows it and aren't you ashamed of yourself?
The exact shame shit is happening to 8chan and if you weren't smart enough to notice it back in 2017 or 2016 you most likely won't now, but this shit will just get worse. 8chan had changed in such a horrible way that I suprise myself everytime I come back to such a familliar atmosphere, the atmosphere I felt back in reddit all those years ago.
No one really acts like they used to anymore.

I'm still cautiously optimistic for Trump anon, instead of jumping right on the "le Drumpf is controlled op may may." If nothing else, you have to ask yourself why so much money, effort, and credibility was spent just trying to keep him out of the White House. It seems rather foolhardy to permanently tarnish the reputation of your propaganda apparatus for an elaborate controlled op scheme that at best will give you only temporary success, after all. And why bother with something so elaborate and potential to fail when you can just use aforementioned propaganda apparatus to promote an establishment candidate in the first place? It's not likely that Trump was just lying his ass off on the campaign trail to fool people into voting for him, just for him to do a 180 for his own personal reasons (as opposed to the reasons of his alleged puppeteers), either. Because adopting a personality that's inevitably going to make highly controversial and vilified even within your own party isn't a reliable strategy to get people to like and vote for you.
So, in light of all this, I cautiously opine that Trump is playing some kind of longer game, as opposed to suddenly going crazy halfway through his term and doing a 180 on his positions. However anon, you have to admit that this sort of assertion is hard to swallow. It's not easy to just blindly trust that Trump knows what he's doing and isn't going to fuck us when he's adopting the exact talking points of the people that are truly determined to fuck us in every way possible. Once this shooting shit blows over and the smoke clears, I'll make my judgement based on what laws have actually been past. Because if Trump truly does know what he's doing, he'll need do his best to set his base at ease well before campaign season comes along.

It sounds to me like trump's advisers are shoving him into the other side, and trump doesn't have the backbone to stand up for his own ideals (or just doesn't care enough about them). Either way, he's not cut out to be prez.

That's what I've been considering as well, but the thing nagging me about that theory is Trump's own history. He's ran companies, many of them, and hasn't been afraid to fire people who crossed him in the past. What's changed now? Have Ivanka and Kushner convinced him that his business experience doesn't translate to politics, making him less secure about his own decisions? If so, why haven't his gun-owning hunter sons tried to show him the other way?
I'm not afraid to admit that Trump might not be everything that was advertised, but the "why" of it all is still bothering me. I can't find an explanation that's entirely satisfactory.

Fuddfaggotry, and they probably trust the older members of the family more anyways.
That, or they might actually be trying (but failing).

It's time to stop playing defense. It's obvious these 'mass shooters' and the subsequent media clown show pushing gun control are communist terrorist acts designed to confiscate guns.
They caught the guy who did the shooting, why are they punishing the entire country…
Whatever happened to that White House petition to declare Antifa a terrorist organization that huge numbers of people signed? If they responded I didn't hear about it.
It's time to call the communists out, and stop negotiating with terrorists. Why do we tolerate these civil war starting scumbags in our country, let alone in congress…

Sheriff Israel was a Hillary supporter, like many on this board apparently.
Despite knowing about a shooter situation in late 2017, sheriff Israel hid it knowing he can hurt Trump with another mass shooting situation. He in fact likely cleared the shooters NICS check, because the kid was on antipsychotics/antidepressants, and a POI in an ongoing FBI investigation. There's no way Cruz got the guns legally without the intervention of Sheriff Israel.
The kid, David Hogg, was a 20 year old sent to that school by the sheriff a month and a half after it was established that Cruz was going to shoot up the school.
The deputy sent by the sheriff ahead of time to that school was in on it. In fact he not only REFUSED to stop the shooting, but he gave an order to other cops to stay 500ft away from the school until the massacre was over. He was sent to make sure the massacre was as bad as possible.
It's not a fake shooting that didn't happen. This time they actually got a guy to do it.
