No, they were successful because the USA and the UK gave them enough resources and equipment to come back after losing nearly everything during the opening stages of Operation Barbarossa. As far as I know it went like this:

And in the end the Germans also started throwing everything and everyone they had at the soviets, from children with cheaps smgs to old men with 19th century rifles. Therefore if you look at the overall numbers it doesn't seem like the soviets were that much worse than the Germans. But I wonder how would it look like in a year-by-year or month-by-month breakdown.

This is your mind on Marxist education. Even in the western front they constantly developed and refined new tactics that actually worked, but they couldn't overcome how bloody those battles were. Yes, in the first few months there were some commanders who brainlessly threw away the lives of their men, but that quickly changed. And in the end the central powers collapsed due to the general lack of resources and workforce, not because the soldiers got bored. And look up the Freikorps and similar military organizations that popped up, they couldn't have existed if not for the people's willingness to keep on fighting right after the end of ww1.

Actually as a thought experiment, you can make a good guess what would happen if it was just Germany and USSR, no one else involved. Since on Eastern front Nazis entered USSR basically unimpeded by resistance forces in europe, you could say it would have started off the same way. For the same reasons as in real WWII (nothing to do with combat), they wouldn't be moving very fast and would just make it to Stalingrad by the second year. They'd be inadequately equipped for winter the same way, they'd be stuck with broken down tanks the same way, they'd be fumbling with logistics the same way, because, again, that doesn't hinge upon combat. I have to doubt they'd rolled over the Stalingrad eventually - they didn't originally breach it due to supply problems, not inadequate combat potential. But if they did, they'd only face bigger logistics issues as they moved forward. So while they no doubt would've fared better, the sheer size and poor infrastructure of USSR at the time wouldn't have let them bite in too deep, and as Soviets weren't going to surrender, the best they could had hoped for is stalemate. Even if they get to keep the land, there's nothing particularly desireable about it. There was a chunk of fertile soil and some coal deposits, but that's about it, all in a land that needs developing basically from scratch.

This also ignores the incredible impact the RAF had on the Luftwaffe, which would have been completely focused against the Soviets and how being held up at the Battle of Greece forced Germany to push back Barbarossa, costing them over a month of warm weather fighting time. There were a lot of variables that caused Germany to do worse then it very possibly could have done.
You are correct in say that taking over and garrisoning ALL of Russia was at best, questionable.

They've evacuated the important production machines far past any point Germans could've possibly reached, so the war wouldn't stop there. Besides, it's a well known fact that at the beginning of the war, RKKA command was crippled by Stalin who ordered execution of most old experienced commanders, as to avoid another revolution, which is how communists came to rule Russia in the first place. First few months went under woefully incompetent command, but as time went on, people gained experience and fresh supply of military academia graduates was getting ready. It's not a coincidence that USSR forces got slammed at the beginning but soon enough started fighting back fiercely. With regards to the thought experiment, I'm pretty sure Soviets would've went back on Germans after attrition starts getting them, as they did originally.

Saying the USSR "lost" the winter war, because it took them three months instead of one is like saying Serbia won the Kosovo war.
In fact the winter war was the last "normal" war, a quick and brutal fight with a handful of decisive battles with a clear winner and loser, ended by a quick diplomacy with some negotiated minor territory change at the end.
In fact had the fighting lasted a month and the Red Army quickly won and the finns sued for peace immediately, they probably wouldn't have taken as much.

It's true that the Finnish defences were at the verge of collapse, but the fundamental reason why the Finnish high command decided to sue for peace and accept territorial losses was because the Finnish ambassador to Germany had been assured by Göring that Finland would regain any lost territory and more when Germany would invade the Soviets. This is the most plausible explanation, concidering the abrupt change in posture of some of the key Finnish political leaders like Tanner and Ryti towards a peace negotiation. Note that this is not part of the 'official' Finnish history, some key sources have been ignored systematically and purposefully for political purposes, much like the war crimes of Finnish SS volunteers.
