The Su-39,

>>546519 too bad Russia doesn't actually have the money for them (they might order a small batch this year).

It's a heavily modernized Su-25 with the GSh-6-30 of the MiG-27K (which is even a better brrrrrr than the GAU-8 Avenger, it's even simpler since it's gas operated!).

Depends on the role. The A10c can't do SEAD or air superiority at all, and is slow as fuck, so while the Su25 isn't necessarily a better at CAS it is actually quite a capable SEAD/CAS combination, that can take out enemy AA and then fuck up the remaining infantry a little before running home at near Mach 1.

Anything WIG

If you don't get a boner from the surface effect, you need to seriously consider your preferred means of propulsion.

Don't the 6-30's destroy the aircraft they're attached to?

Yes, they do. Like all Warsaw pact hardware, its only superior on paper.

Blowing out your landing lights and causing micro fractures on the airframe every time you squeeze the trigger to the point that you need to start lighting up your airbase runways at night because of lack of landing lights is not what I would call a working solution.

>Don't the 6-30's destroy the aircraft they're attached to?

It's ammo is fucking dangerous. It send shrapnel in a 200m bubble around the target including upward, so if you're flying real low like they like chance you're getting hit by your own gun…

On the MiG-23 it did but it's not like the plane was made for it in the first place, the Su-39 is like what the Su-30 is to a Su-27, it looks the same but it's really not, if they re-made it with that gun in mind for it there is no reason it doesn't work. Also they have seriously dampened the vibrations on them, to the point that all new naval systems mount them in dual mounts (be it on the "kashtan" CIWS, side by side or "duet" superposed).

I fail to see the problem here.

jokes aside the MiG-27 was a joke, I suppose Su-25 derivatives are more hardworthy than a MiG-23 hamfisted into attack role and would be able to withstand the GSh's dakka.

What is China's deal with rocket and jet engines? Why can't they figure them out? Every time the Chinese make one it's inefficient as fuck and belches acrid black smoke everywhere.

ae04d9 No.547168

>>546652

Figured vibrations wouldn't be too bad of a problem on something solid like a ship. I'll be honest I don't have much of a clue on slav aircraft other than their Su-25 and the fact they tend to bomb kebab with em.

>>547137

>>547133

Its more they can't figure out to copy Russian and Western space magics properly.

5b76a6 No.547183

>>547133

Because they can't make the tooling well enough. Also they lack experience compared to the US.

>inb4 shrill.

A relative of mine says there is a story in the PLAAF. Originally, in the 70s with Nixion when there was good relations, they got a couple US advisors to look at the engines they used. The average service life for a engine under a Chinese engineer was ~200 flight hours. The American took it apart, reassembled it without adding new parts I must add, only replacing and the service life went up to 2000. FUCKING 2000! Honestly the Chinese are better at building rockets cause they've been doing it longer than aircraft engines

Don't even get started on the PLAN, the only reasons they're building destroyer size and below aside from the new copy of the Vayrag is because they can't figure out how to build it better thanSoviet Era Sovremennys. lol. Serriously, the PLAN can build better SSN/SSBNS than a fucking destroyer.

Plus, the new "technology" that they've been pushing has really fucked up recruitment. On one hand they have too many jobless peasants that cant operate this shit because they dont understand physics/EE/Chemistry, on the other hand there's not enough college/HS people willing to go into the military.

But wait! I'm not even done! On top of all this shit, the Chinese government actively pushes new development when they obviously can't do it physically. The issue is not design they've actually gotten decent with copying/buying from the french/ calculations it's the fact that they just cant do it to the precision we see in the west Russian example would be that Toshiba milling scandal where they sold fine tuned aixs tuning equipment and Russian propellers got better they have no idea how to build it effectively cough F-35. The reason chinese troops have no optics is because they can't make them at the rate they make knock of AKs and their new rifles. They make like what, 10 scopes a day because the equipment can't make high quality glass! Also the airforce and the navy are the two most fucking underfunded branches Strategic forces (old name: 2'nd artillery corps) and the army get all the funding.

Well they are catching up:

https://archive.fo/PzGDc

>China is exporting a ceramic jet engine blade processing machine as part of a wider jet engine collaboration between Germany and China.

>China’s turbine blade breakthroughs have won numerous top national science and technology prizes since 2010. They include the development of a unique hollow structure to make lighter and stronger blades; new single-crystal alloys capable of withstanding high temperatures; and a special membrane that can be applied to a blade’s surface to accelerate cooling. Two of the national science and technology prizes announced by Beijing this week were awarded for work on turbine blades: one for single crystal alloys and the other to do with mechanical grinding.

>The scientist in Xian said laser processing was widely used in making jet engines, but China was using a new technical approach that differed from the traditional methods adopted in the US and Britain.

>“Our machine has outperformed theirs on some benchmarks,” the scientist said. “The Germans have seen and grown interested in our technology.”

Air superiority doesn't matter as much when you're fighting mudslimes who have no Air.

Honestly they should just design a new plane for CAS. I'd rather the A-10 be retired from service while still being loved by most people then later when it's pure political football.

5b76a6 No.547727

>>547525

Yes they are. However in general I'd gauge the airforce between 10-15 years behind the US.

The joke was that everytime US-China relation got tense the government would deliberately smog up the capital so the US couldn't laser guide mutitions lol.

Dont forget it had DIRCM twenty one years before we got it.

>>547133

Compressing, mixing the fuel and air properly, balancing all the needs of a fighter engine took us 60 years after the invention of the jet engine, we only mastered it in the 90s.

Chinks are in the early 60s with respect to materials, and in late 80s with respect to fundamentals.

We learned the hard way, chinks can take shortcuts by copying. But theyll be another 15-20 years before they make a home built fighter engine comparable to us. Unless MiG just builds one for them again.

>>547183

Theres nothing shill about it, only three countries have the capability to independently produce a modern fighter jet engine - USA, RF, and France.

UK had it but pissed it away.

Every other country needs foreign help. Building these things isnt easy, its easier to make a nuke.

>>547525

Germans are not even in top ten of jet engine design.

>>547727

Maybe we should stop using retarded laser homing for bomb guidance? Radar dot generator is 20x smaller than a laser generator, and its all weather….
