I want to buy a full size, dead reliable 9mm for home defense. I have a glock43 for my ccw. But I'm going crazy reading all these websites comparing pistols. So far I'm looking at:

I can attest the Beretta and Cz are fun things to play with. The only problem with the first is the spring needs to be changed every 5k rounds or so. In reality for HD you should have a rifle/shotgun, if your so inclined on having a pistol practice practice practice will make you alive in a home invasion scenario and the bad guy dead.

The CZ is a great gun. It's reliable and pretty accurate. CZ factory mags are pricey, though. Look for mec-gar mags to save a bit there.

I've got a shadow 2 and it's a stupidly accurate gun.
After around a 1000+ rounds in it the large plate on the mag release button got loose (so after about 100 mag changes I rarely shoot full mags) and needed cleaning/re-screwing and that's the only bad thing I got to say about it.
It's pricey but it's essentially a CZ-75 with match everything (trigger, sights, ergonomics, mine came with 3 19rounds mags). It means, unless you want a red dot or an under-barrel attachment, you wont spend any more money on it.

My SP-01 suffered the common issue of dry firing breaking the retainer for its firing pin, despite using a snap cap. Aside from this, it seems to have a jam rate on par with a p226, which is to say very rare.

If you've got a bug up your ass about hammer-fired and/or steel-frame guns, I'd recommend the Steyr M9 over the Glock. Lower bore-axis, and better sights.

Pistol allows you to open doors and still maintain reasonable recoil management when shooting with one hand. Try the same with rifle or shotgun.

Yes the cracked steel slides are a meme for the 92. Iirc it was during the first few hundred the US army picked up and the reason was because the USA plant that made them didn't properly make the slides. But that was all decades ago.
I like my Beretta, though in reality you should look for the A1 since it has the rail on it for lasers or whatnot if you'd prefer that. other than that and the main spring being changed out every once in a while they are solid as a rock.

CZ series guns for probably the best competitor of the 1911 in terms of classiness and build quality. If you go for a CZ make sure that the model you want can fire hot/plus ammo, the single action 75 has a thin barrel for instance. 17+1

Though both Sigs and CZ's gain the accuracy benefits of full length guide rails, ounce for ounce sig's will be snappier than a CZ because of the higher bore axis, though it does allow for a larger gripping surface which you absolutely need if you're a mall ninja with fingers the size and gripping strength of unsmoked kielbasa from all the obesity and hypertension.
