Can not cover the eyes because of optical devices, can not cover mouth because it covers mouth when radio breaks down and need to shout, and its a obstructs airway when hurt or vomiting. Its a good compromise.

The plates go just above his knee on the straight leg. That wouldn’t be comfortable at best, or possible at worst, to crouch or kneel or crawl in add squatting to the list if Eastern Europe adapts it. Why not just use normal body armour but with thigh protection? A carbon nanotube dress isn’t going to make you very mobile in lower positions, unless you make it wide enough to spread your legs wipe crouching in which case you’ve added a lot of material that you now have to deal with. Also it makes access to a drop holster, thigh pouches and anything on a belt impossible. Unless you suggest mounting all that equipment on the outside of that armour.
