I never understood it's purpose. Why use an automatic when you want to use hefty cartridges? You don't need the extra capacity, yet the extreme power will put extra stress on moving parts and require you to add even more mass. You are just doing it because you can at that point. This is the epitome of retarded. A study in stupidity and waste. At what point would the advantages of an automatic in .50AEtard outweigh the disadvantages of greater wear on moving parts, greater mass, and greater size? Only advantage I can see would be the option to change barrels quickly, but unless you use that to change cartridges, you probably won't run into any problems with overheating anyways, since it's a fucking pistol. You won't ever run more than 50 rounds at a time through it in any scenario.
