Pistol carbines are the shemale transsexuals of the firearm world.
If youre going to fuck a shemale transsexual in the real world, it might as well be one with a large cock. Ergo 10mm auto is the only acceptible carbine.

They're fine in that they're an oversized .22 rifle. You'll never use one past plinking and the weight savings per round isn't all that great when you consider how horribly limited the platform is.

Depends on your situation and budget. If the only real shooting options you have are indoor ranges, they're a long arm that pretty much any indoor range will allow you to train with, unlike rifles and shotguns. You can shoot fairly cheaply with 115 grain ammo and it's a serious defense weapon with +P+ 147 grain ammo you need to make sure it functions reliably with whatever your defense ammo is. Personally there are many things I'd rather spend my money on first, and they'd have to be pretty cheap for me to be interested, I'd consider the Hi-Point one except it only takes single stack mags.

I really like the take down on the 10/22 as it is. May look at a AR pistol in 10mm.
53e6f5 No.540423
In a world where we are limited to semi-auto firearms, a true carbine (i.e. a design intended to handle like a traditional stalking rifle) chambered in a pistol cartridge has its uses and makes infinitely more sense than any of the neutered (sporterized or just semi-auto converted) SMGs on the market. The problem is that there aren't any designs on the market which realize the full potential of whatever pistol caliber cartridge they're designed for, with the the exception of the 10/22.
A lightweight 9mm carbine would make for a great, inexpensive gun for large varmint hunting and cheap plinking. There are some options out there but most fall short in come category (weight, ergonomics, price). The real "killer app" would be a carbine chambered in 10mm as many have stated as that cartridge's ability to deliver 1,000+ J of energy opens the door for a wide variety of uses. Such a carbine would be a modern equivalent to the old Winchester lever actions chambered in .44-40 in terms of usefulness and power. I'd love to have a carbine that handles like a 10/22 but with enough power to take game as large as the small deer we have here in the Southeast. There's a real niche for such a firearm but no one has even attempted to fill it.

Of course, you're wrong. Even if you got the right chest "placement" on a grizzly, the 10mm would not be able tp penetrate deep enough.

My dad carried a .357 magnum single action for a lot of years in the woods where we hunt. Where we hunt its the mountain lions or mexicans you need to worry about. Going into bear country is different, but if those bears are those small black ones, a .357 mag or higher will do the job. And if I remember correctly, proper loaded 10mm is getting close to 41 mag power.

63b206 No.541550
I would say generally no, but conditionally.
Some reasons they might be worth it:
>Often cheaper than a similarly sized rifle
>Generally decently compact
>Most handgun rounds suppress better than the majority of intermediate rifle rounds
The thing is though, I think it's bad enough that intermediate rounds in semi auto are so popular. Intermediates were intended to be an SMG on steroids that could, in a pinch, engage in mid to long range semi auto accurate fire when needed, and for whatever reason the whole world has flipped that on its head (And we're just now starting to realize that this is a mistake). So you're already, in my opinion, making at least a minor mistake with intermediate semi auto rifles anyway. You're making an even bigger one with a pistol caliber carbine. Pistol rounds are a compromise so that you can carry a light, compact/small, handheld package. If you don't intend to do that, you don't have a reason for settling on those rounds. Unless it's an SMG, then by all means, rock and roll.

Just want to say you're thinking too much fighting rifle. Not that you don't make solid points, you did. Its just that some people have more in mind with certain guns than just fighting. PCCs are plinkers and maybe an HD weapon if your situation dictates.

your dad was dumb then. 357 mag was made for exploding human targets, not bears. it won't penetrate enough to kill the bear.
For big ass animals you need a big heavy bullet that will plow deep inside the animal. .357 magnum is made to explode on impact.

Yeah, I'm gonna need to see a source on that one.
A 180gr. hard-cast lead bullet traveling at 1400 fps from a revolver (or 1800+ from a rifle) can absolutely humanely kill a black bear. I don't just mean in the "ive seen guys kill elephants with a .22 dumbass its all about shot placement" sense either.
There was plenty of .357 ammo designed for anti-personnel use by police that was lightweight and expanded rapidly to avoid overpenetration, such as the classic 110 gr. SJHP. Once you start using a 140+ gr. projectile from a 4"+ revolver, though, even hollowpoints will blow right through a human target.

https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/revolver-ballistics-test/
This is a thorough comparison of self-defense ammo from 2" and 4" barreled revolvers. Note the 158 gr. Hornady XTP, which from a 2" barrel fully expanded and penetrated to an average of 21.6". I've seen hunting-specific ammo penetrate 3 full gel blocks (36") AND a sheet of 3/4" plywood from an 8" revolver and keep going.
