I'd tell you to call the humane society, but we both know that would just lead to them telling you they can't do anything unless you catch them. The way I look at it, you have three options, OP.

1) If you're not a serial-killer in the making, you could buy a kennel, begin to feed the cats yourself, and scruff them/shove them in the kennel and take them to the humane society one-by-one. This is the most humane way of doing this and the humane society will take them in if you explain the situation, but it's also the most time consuming. Most of them will probably be put to sleep, but some of them might find homes and at least their last few days will be spent peacefully before being given the lethal injection.

2) If you've got good aim, a bow & arrow is quiet enough that you could kill a cat and then dump it down the street (using this method your neighbor will get suspicious and you could face all kinds of legal shit, and it's also a dick move).

3) If you're a complete fucking asshole, you could poison them I guess. Cats are deathly allergic to a lot of stuff, and if you can sneak whiskey or xylitol into their food, it'll give them brain damage/kill them without too much pain.

I definitely understand, OP. I have a neighbor who does the exact same shit. So far, turning them into the humane society has resulted in most of the cats disappearing. My neighbors brought one or two of them back, but they put collars on them and keep them inside at night now because of that.

I'm a college kid who works full time, so I get not having enough time, but I still feel like it's the most humane option (plus it keeps you from having a guilty conscience).

I can tell you from experience that an air rifle won't cut it for a quick death for a cat- my family cat took one to the shoulder-blade and kept on living for four fucking years the age of 18. Call animal control and tell them what's going on. They'll usually drop off a few traps for you to set up and you just call them whenever you get one. They'll swing by and 'dispose' of Mr. Whiskers. Repeat this process until its no longer a problem.

Another method would be ultrasonic poisoned cat nip.

Cat nip is a plant, that naturally grows in many areas around the globe. You can buy it in any floral store IIRC. Rub some poisonous plant of your choice (Digitalis, or Foxgloves are common in Europe, wear gloves when handling, dispose gloves after handling) on the leaves. Cats will come, rub against the plant, chew on it, ingest some of the poisons. Not only that, but the poisons will stick to their fur. When they clean themselves afterwards they will ingest even more.

Noone will look into it too much. They will just assume that the cats poisoned themselves on some wild foxglove plant or whatever.

Or, you know, ask your fucking neighbor to stop feeding the cats.

When I hunt or trap something, I aim to minimize its suffering by killing it quickly and as humanely as possible in context.
