Best 9mm for pocket carry, what are you guys experience and people who pocket carry what do you carry and what is your holster?

I have carried the S&W 642 and the original LC9 both were comfortable to carry but both triggers were long and heavy.

I currently carry the full size M&P in 9 IWB but it is giant and the beaver tail really isn't kind to my soft belly.

I am kind of torn between the shield and Walther PPS M2 for my carry guns, any recommendations based on experience?

If you have the money for it, the P239 SAS in .357 SIG.

I tend to prefer 9mm because the price and availability of the ammo primarily, but I appreciate the input.

If you decide on that, make sure you get the LE model with the chargable night sights and 8 round mag.

>pocket 9

I'm kind of in the same boat. I really want to like the Diamondback DB9, because it's such a sweet shooting and compact design, but I could go on about the travails I've had getting one to run at an acceptable reliability. My experience with the Kel-Tec PF9 tells me it's a generally reliable gun, but so poorly done that it's inaccurate and manages to put every pound of pressure from standard 9mm into a half inch area of your hand to the point I'd rather shoot a snubnose .357 with full power loads all day than a half box of 9mm through one of those.

I don't have any experience with the PSS M2, isn't it a little big for pocket carry? The Shield can be a good gun, I just think it's bigger than it needs to be for a single stack gun and S&W has constant lingering issues in QC.

The 9mm I've had least problems with across the board for pocket carry is a fucking Taurus Millennium G2. I'm torn between going back to that, or finally breaking down and getting a Sig 238 in 9mm, or picking up a cheap Glock 42 and sliding a 9x18 barrel in it.

>I currently carry the full size M&P in 9 IWB but it is giant and the beaver tail really isn't kind to my soft belly.

Appendix or 3 o'clock?

cd6b44 No.527539

I've cycled through a few of the smaller nines and currently have a shield and a nano.

The shield isn't really suited for pocket carry, it's just too big for any normal sized pockets. If you're a big guy you might be able to get away with it, but as a dead average person at 5'11 and 180lbs it it extremely obvious in any kind of jeans / dress pant pocket I own. That being said it works really well for appendix, the form factor feels much better than any double stack I have, and the weight is negligible enough that I've actually forgotten I was wearing it.

The nano is the gun I currently carry 99% of the time, it's about an inch less in height and length, and that makes enough of a difference to be largely invisible when carried in my pockets. I settled on just a generic remora holster, after going through a fair amount of expensive leather and/or kydex combinations specifically built for pocket carry.

The nano has a couple issues, it hates low grain practice ammo. You'll get a steady stream of FTEs running 115grain range shit. I usually run 147gr range ammo regardless, so it doesn't affect me personally. Low grain +p defensive loads cycle fine, but I run 147g HSTs in all my 9mms. The nano also doesn't have a side stop, this was a design consideration to make the frame completely smooth on the outside, but since it's in a holster I don't really understand the reasoning behind it. It's a negative for me since it's different than any other firearm I own, but it's not that big of a deal. The trigger is extremely long and heavy, but fairly smooth. I've been able to get surprisingly good groups at 25 yards using it, but it takes some practice. Every shot feels like a long double action pull, if you're used to shooting revolvers it won't be anything new.

All things considered I've been happy with it, I've carried it constantly for the last four years. Nothing that has come to market recently has been good enough for me to bother replacing it. The g43 is interesting, but it's just slightly too big. That said I like the g43 much better than the gen1 shield I own. I'll likely end up replacing the shield with the 43 assuming the new gen2 shields don't do anything significantly better than gen1.

I will look for it I saw a guy on armslist offering the basic PPS M2 with a couple extra mags and leather iwb holster for 350, because I live in WA state all private sales require you go to a FFL and pay a transfer fee, bleh.

>>527530

I haven't really looked into the CCP, I don't know the price or availability either.

>>527531

As much as I like a number of .380s I prefer 9mm because it is a little bit stronger but also cheaper and easier to find.

>>527533

I am yet to try any diamondback or kel-tec weapons personally but I do see both offered at a rather tempting price. I do agree I enjoy revolvers for reliability and ease of carry, but generally hate the triggers.

I am not sure I have seen articles comparing the 43, shield, and PPS M2 all for pocket carry but I really would have to get my hands on one to test my pockets but the 7 and 9 round mags for the PPS M2 look awfully big.

I move from 2 to 3 IWB depending if I am standing or sitting at work. 2 is more concealed but really digs into my gut if I site, 3 prints more imo but is more comfortable to sit with.

>>527539

>ix, the form factor feels much better than any double stack I have, and the weight is negligible enough that I've actually forgotten I was wearing it.

>>527539

Yeah I have only had the LC9 original for pocket carry when it comes to semiauto 9s, it seems a lot of them are a lot bigger than the slim LC9.

I personally never carried anything but a fullsize 9 IWB I kind of want to see how comfortable these subcompact models are IWB really.

I really wish gun companies would operate like mattress companies with a 90 day trial because I want to try so many guns not only shooting but carrying lol.

Thanks for all the responses so far in this thread they have been really helpful.

What do you guys carry for SD Ammo?

LC9S is literally exactly what you want.

Yeah I tried the trigger at a range the worker let me finger fuck and it felt amazing. I do dislike the magazine disconnect, loaded chamber indicator, and thumb safety but I think they were resolved on the LC9s Pro

8b9f4f No.527710

Not so big guy here with CC card in the mail. Plan on carrying a Glock 19 so far, do have access to an M&P9, P320, and a couple others. Like the Millennium G2 except for its trigger and mine's slide will sometimes slam forward with putting in a magazine without releasing the slide catch so don't trust it too much. Also curious about experiences with a 9x18 barrel on a Glock 42 like this anon pointed out >>527533. Only 5' 5" and 115 so hoping to still carry a 9mm and not print.

a139b2 No.527740

>>527710

I have mixed things the about the glock 42 when it first came out but hopefully they worked out the kinks. I would say carry what you shoot well and feel comfortable carrying the most if you don't carry it because it is unpleasant to carry you might not be wearing it when you need it.

S&W Shield with extended magazine. I've tried the desantis superfly with that stupid fucking flap. Threw that shit in the garbage. Sticky holster is ok, I like the car pouch that I can mount hidden up under the steering wheel. Still looking for a better holster though.

Recently I've been carrying a j-frame revolver more. Use a j-frame chambered in .357mag loaded with .38 special for pocket carry, and a large frame for home use. Keep both ammo types around, as the .38 is easier for the wife and kids to handle.

>>527710

Glocks are for niggers. go ahead, flame away faggots, they're still cheap nigger and fed guns.

Carried an LC9 or a glock 26 for years as a back up gun but now I carry a s&w model 46. The main reason I carry it is so I can give someone else a weapon if something happens, would much rather give them a revolver

If it makes you feel any better I'm carrying it in a desantis holster :^). Next thing I'd pick is a P320 or a 1911 of some kind. Would like to look for a new holster though, maybe an appendix carry one, right now I carry on my right hip.

Glock 43, in a cheap little pocket holster. Much more comfortable than aiwb was for me.

>Bumping a month and a half old thread that OP has probably stop following

Wew, lad.

I've got a shield, OP. Can get pics if you want. It's not as small as folks make it out to be, but the whole point is being a concealable firearm and it definitely fits that descriptor. Haven't gotten my CCW yet since shit keeps happening when I go to do the basic firearms safety course to get it/I work at a small ITAR-compliant company that's more likely to be shot up by a cop during a drug bust than a criminal, so I don't necessarily carry it yet/it's just sitting in a safe under the bed since I got the shotgun for home defense. Heading late night to the gym, but I can probably get some pics/describe it at some point if I remember/if this thread hasn't died again by then.

it's fine, the topic continues, post pics if you want. consider carrying, it'll be "not that important" up until you regret it.

I was somewhat excited by the SIG P365 design, and then they demo'd a malfunctioning pistol to reviewers and excused it away. heebSIG is the worst.

i'd like a 357 revolver to pocket carry.

Damn it, I got all excited when I read the dimensions were smaller than a G2 and it came standard with night sights. Fucking Cohen.

>i'd like a 357 revolver to pocket carry.

All I know is the 640 Pro is pure sex to the eye and the hand, and I am not normally a fan of modern smith wheelguns.

there's some nice modern bullets in 9mm mak now, like Hornady has a mak diameter HP. the round is less powerful than i'd chose for defense, but it can work.
