Seconding a summary of what actually happened. ITT always seemed sketchy to me. Back in HS they were always praising ITT and building it up like it would make us all billionaire rocket scientists. They had programs in which nerds would be brainwashed about ITT and get to visit a local campus and shit. I suspect ITT might have been paying school admins and faculty to shill for them, and funnel grads into them. I live in NC, and I would never put it past a school to grab some dirty money they desperately need.

Until I hear about any of them recruiting already proven mentally unstable recruits, then keep training said recruits even after getting reprimanded for leaking classified intelligence as junior analysts, then giving to those juniors and meaningless field analysts access to the totality of the diplomatic cables for every HUMINT data collected by every embassy in the world and every military report ever written anywhere, even more so when perfectly knowing that said analyst is clearly at least emotionally stable and possibly suicidal, I will continue to assume they are several measures ahead in their level of competency.

Second what does it has to do with anything?

When I'm talking about US military intelligence POLICY.
Manning was noted as mentally unstable during boot-camp, then was officially reprimanded for LEAKING CLASSIFIED INTELLIGENCE about SCIFs during training as analyst. People like that shouldn't even be in the fucking branch in the first place!
In any competent organization both of those are major red flags, first one mean you will never work with intelligence (which is a field very well known to renders stable people crazy already), second one means you're booted off the training program because you don't seem to get what classified means.
Then it's apparently POLICY that if you're a low level combat brigade military intelligence guy (so basically your job is to provide updated maps and local intel about what's what in the AO) you somehow have access to the ENTIRETY of US classified intel, which is pure insanity.
The US adversaries are probably the ones the most hurt by Manning leaks BTW.
Because if it was that easy to get that much out you can fucking bet they too had leaned on the first pothead/alcoholic/gay/indebted/unscrupulous low ranking analyst they could find and had access to the whole thing…
These aren't individual fucks up. That's testament that the branch of US military called "military intelligence" hasn't even grasp the core concept of their job.

You've been living under a rock or something???
Manning leaked, 91,731 classified military reports from Afghanistan, 391,832 classified military reports from Iraq so basically the detailed, in theater, US military activity from January 2004 to December 2009 and 251,287 diplomatic cable (around 100,000 "confidential", 15,000 "secret"), basically the entirety of US diplomatic traffic (274, diplomatic missions 180 countries) from December 1966 to February 2010.
Because to be field analyst for an infantry BCT that's what you need access to apparently…
That's a stupid amount of non-top secret classified reports in the field of foreign relations, save CIA ops (not really because there is enough in the diplomatic cables to piece back part of it's activity together). You probably still have entire Chinese and Russian task forces combing through it even years after (probably not since they likely already had it given how not secure this shit apparently is…) because it's basically 100 more than any cold war treasure trove made by a defector on any side.

ITT Tech taught everything like the military did since former military were the majority of their students. Pretty much ITT Tech was jewing their students (and instructors too according to some of my former CC instructors) at 5x the tuition rates of the local community college for half the education, but they were accepting FAFSA and such so people kept flooding in because even fewer requirements than public education to enroll.

To be fair, you can use military service to great heights in the civilian world so long as you go into the military with at least an associates degree, and you recognize that you're doing it for the benefits and military name brand for resumes, not for the job experience. Your military rate (or whatever the other branches call it) isn't worth shit in the real world and no one cares what you did for the army/navy/chairforce (Marines should just prepare to be homeless), but the security clearance, vet status, etc. is worth a good deal if you can prove you have a piece of paper formally saying you learned that shit at an institution.
>>523868
Definitely understand that. It's a good feeling to make more with certs or a trade school "degree" than some engineers who went into thousands of dollars worth of debt make. If the military doesn't pull through next year, I'm planning to just work as a technician at an oil field and rake in 80k/year for a couple years so I can live comfortably/only work part-time for a decade or so while still having assets in case something happens.

My Navy friends have told me similar stories. Apparently it's common knowledge that if a grill gets a ship assignment, she's coming back with a swollen belly (doubly so if she's got a husband or tricked a sucker into marrying her during A-school). Allegedly (I couldn't believe it), women get paid as if they were still on duty when they get preggers, but they get to sit at home for like two years of their service so they tend to get pregnant when they're coming up on their last two years of service to get out of it while still getting militarybux. If they can't get the full time off, they usually drop the kid off with their parents to cover the "family care" provisions.
