Night vision simply amplifies ambient light so looking as some Vantablack paint with some night vision would tell you almost exactly what looking at something that doesn't reflect light.
When you look at something like Vantablack you just see emptyness which is what not reflecting light is it wouldn't look like a
>shadow
because its 3 dimensional and has mass unlike a 2 dimensional massesless thing

Just because humans have a blind spot (that if if simulated by the brain would look like a black spot) that the brain fills in doesn't mean you can't see perceive a lack of light or the lack of reflection of light. other wise when ever you turned off the lights your brain would start filling in the void with god knows what and you'd never "see" darkness or experience the void that is a moon light less night.
So please don't pretend to know what you're talking about when it comes to human experience then ask for scientific studies.

You're basically correct although it NV might fill in that void of light with a different colour. (depending on the kind of NV you have) but you still see this man shaped thing moving around that looks like a kind of silhouette.

>if you were to make a ghillie suit from scratch, which materials/dyes would you use to make it as NV-proof as possible
embed video sort of related its the closest thing i could find to answer your question. I think to help further your answer you could look up the factors in how night vision differentiates object and lets say the biggest factor is texture you should focus on the fineness of the texture of your ghillie suite.
