Why do Muslims consider a secretary to be so venerable?

Because she is always polite on the phone and brings me coffee without me having to ask.

wait, you're saying prophets are just God's secretaries?

Yes, what's the difference?

I think you're confusing "secretary" with "messenger". A prophet delivers a message. A secretary files papers and gets coffee.

Where is this guy according to Kübler-Ross?

Seems like he's in depression to me.

1.) Denial - Did Muhammad even exist?

2.) Anger - He was just an evil warlord.

3.) Bargaining - "He was a prophet for only Arabia."

4.) Depression - "Prophets are just unpaid interns and secretaries of God if you think about it."

5.) Acceptance - "There is no god but God and Muhammad is his Messenger."

Have you never heard of the "sunnah"? Muslims attempted to record every saying and deed Muhammed ever did because he is much more than a "secretary". They are supposed to follow his example in everything. He is considered "the perfect man", see:

>He is considered "the perfect man"

Those are extreme claims based on greek philosophy. We believe prophets are infallible in conveying their messages and are protected against major sins and are the best of the people - but not perfect in every way.

In the Quran there are examples of Muhammad pbuh making mistakes (turning away from the blind man) and seeking forgiveness, and other prophets seeking forgiveness too.

It should also be noted that "venerate" doesn't mean "worship". None are worthy of worship but Allah. We do, however, respect the Prophets.

I take it you're not Muslim? That's fine. Welcome to /islam/, friend.

Not yet. I'm very interested though, I just haven't made the final decision though. Thanks.

By all means hang around and study. We try to have actual discussion here, but we're a very small board and a slow one. With each new seeker, we grow a little more though. Mashallah.

Hi. I'm not sure if you're the fellow into perennialism but incase you are I'm asking you to focus on the foundations of Islam.

I strongly suggest you focus on Quran, Tafsir, Seerah, and worshipping/submitting to Allah. I don't even think you should look at ahadith now unless some ahadith have been problematized for you by islamophobes - inwhich case we can explain them.

I've seen people become muslim and within 2 years they have memorized the entire Quran and they've become talib ul ilm. I've also seen people embrace and then start drinking from the firehose with no structure and they become overwhelmed. Alhamdulillah - I've seen those who were once overwhelmed & burnt out, get on track too; but there's no need to go through that.

Pace yourself, start slowly with the fundamentals. This deen is a rushing torrent of truth that can overwhelm you or be harnessed. How do you harness it? By having a pure intention, love and fear of Allah, and begging Allah swt for guidance. What does it mean to beg for guidance? It means begging Allah to give you the strength to consistently make the right decisions. Decisions to not only cultivate yourself in the religion but to avoid sins that harden your heart and will ruin you here and hereafter. But you will sin, and when you do turn quickly to Allah and beg forgiveness and hate your sin and promise Allah and yourself you'll never do it again. And if you are sincere you will be forgiven by Allah and He'll even turn your sin into a good deed.

Yeah, I'm the same guy that made that thread. Thanks for the advice.
