Allah swt did not give revelation to Matt, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, and Ringo. He gave it to JESUS as. We Muslims have an actual - and the final - revelation given by Allah swt. Christians do not have the uncreated speech that was spoken to Jesus - peace on him.
The christian gospels are a collection of what are known in arabic as seerah and ahadith that are attributed to Jesus that include fragments of the Injeel by happenstance in the speech of Prophet Jesus. Muslims have a comprehensive seerah and ahadith with verified chains of narrators (isnad) that Christians lack. Christians never distinguished between biography, utterances of the prophet, and revelation. That is the observable basis for their ignorance.
We have a full seerah, a spectrum of classified ahadith, and most importantly the actual revelation. Creating the holy ghost character to explain a lack of rigor in recording and evaluating the life, times, and remarks of Prophet Jesus (as) just opens more problems. So does sidestepping lack of the uncreated speech by claiming Jesus is God. The analogy would be if we had no Quran but said "it's a mulligan, The Prophet is Allah." astagfirullah wa audhobillah .
