"Allah is but one God. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs." [4:171]

Works based salvation leaves me feeling like I'm most likely going to hell and so are most Muslims I know, since our works are so mundane, lacking and our bad deeds, bad thoughts so numerous. So many missed prayers so many missed opportunities to do good. So many lustful thoughts and distractions….

Would be nice to have some assurance of heaven instead of being stuck on a treadmill trying to earn our way there.

How do you feel about your chances to heaven?

Islam is about struggle (jihad), it's not supposed to be easy and pleasant. Stop being lazy and apathetic, and don't make excuses for yourself. Struggling is not a burden, it's a God-given privilege. Struggle is a gift. Free-and-easy salvation would be a curse only fit for an animal. The fact that we can struggle for the sake of God is proof that God loves us.

A man came to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, what are the two deeds that make entering Paradise or Hell inevitable?

He said: “Whoever dies not associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise, and whoever dies associating anything with Allah will enter Hell.”

An assurance for heaven would be nice, but it can also lead to laziness. "I'm going to heaven anyway so who cares?" is a mentality you'd want to avoid.

We do a lot of good deeds without thinking about them. Prayer and fasting have a massive benefit. There was a hadith about a bedouin who came to the Prophet (pbuh) and said that he'd do the bare minimum required to be Muslim, and the Prophet (pbuh) said he was Muslim.

If that isn't enough, any prayer done in a mosque is worth a fuckton more than normal. Any deed done in Ramadan is worth a fuckton more than normal. Charity gives you a reward 100 times greater than it's monetary value. There are multipliers hidden everywhere. Just thinking of doing a bad deed, then discarding the thought, is a good deed in itself.

Think about any reason for going to hell that would stand out for you. If it's something you did in the past, have you tried to fix it? If it's something you do now, are you taking steps to improve yourself? Break down and identify anything you think will weigh you down, and tackle it slowly.

Hold up.

From Sahih Bukhari, after the Bedouin was informed of the five pillars:

> "By Him Who has honored you, I will neither perform any Nawafil nor will I decrease what Allah has enjoined on me. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "If he is saying the truth, he will succeed (or he will be granted Paradise).

IF

Not "definitely"

HE

HE

Not "whoever."

The five pillars are important but the munafiqeen do them too. Faith and works are inextricably bound and strengthen eachother but in the end faith tops works.

Going to hell doesn't mean that you're going to say there forever.

No man enters heaven by his own merits, but only by the grace of god.

Allah only bestows His Grace upon those with Faith and those who do good works. All three are required.

This is what I'm starting to realize.

Even believing the idea of earning your way to heaven will taint all your good deeds with selfishness and egoism, they won't be done with a pure heart tbh, and will turn salvation into a calculus of outweighing your bad deeds with good deeds, (i.e I'll fap once a week and do two good deeds to counter it) etc..

“And those who believed and did good works, they are the inhabitants of Paradise, abiding therein eternally.” (Quran 2:82)

“God has promised those who believed and did good works, that for them is a tremendous reward (in Paradise).” (Quran 5:9)

“And those who believed and did good works…they are the inhabitants of the Garden (of Paradise), abiding therein eternally.” (Quran 7:42)

“Those who believe and do good works, their Lord guides them by their faith. Rivers will flow beneath them in the Gardens of Delight.” (Quran 10:9)

“Upon those who believed and did good works shall The Most Gracious [God] bestow [His] Love.” (Quran 19:96)

“Those who believed and did good works, We shall blot out their transgressions and shall reward them according to the best of that which they used to do.” (Quran 29:7)

“And He (God) answers those who believe and do good works, and gives them more out of His Grace.” (Quran, 42:26)

Faith alone is not enough.

Faith is the foundation. Good works show that you have faith. Because talk is cheap.

You would know that as a christian :^)

>our

Christian, why are you pretending to be Muslim? At least change your IP's when you post here as a Christian and as a Muslim. We can tell you're a christian not just by your IP but your shoehorned nomenclature. You're clumsily projecting a christian dialogue onto muslims, our Quran has already settled the matter: faith and works are both required.

We get so much hasanat for doing various good deeds. We don't need your leaven God.

Samefag.

>I'll fap once a week and do two good deeds to counter it) etc..

You don't understand the concept of taubah (repentance) in Islam and the necessity of ikhlas (sincerity). And such a scheme is objectively retarded because you can die at any moment.
