Firstly, it depends on the intention of the person, it has to be good.

Second, it can be worldly wealth or multiplication of good deeds (hasanat) which will help a person on the day of judgement.

When you give charity it is basically turning your money into "travelers cheques" for the next life. And the al-islam site is a shia site, those hadith are not recognized by most muslims.

A society where the wealthy help the poor will naturally have less poor people therefore a better level of society, growth and expansion as opposed to one where people simply waste away wile the rich grow richer.
