Hey, /islam/, curious kuffar here. As far as I am aware, when praying you are supposed to orient yourselves towards Mecca. The question is, what does that even mean on a globe? Do you try to approximate a great circle intersecting your location and that of Mecca, or do you approximate using straight lines on a Mercator projection?

It's based on the globe. From where I am - New Orleans - it's 49.29 deg. If I travel, I can either look it up or find a mosque.

Personally if I didn't know and had a map I would do this as it's easier.
