OP's question may have been loaded, but I think it raises a valid point, in that many aspects of Islam (whether within the scripture, or in the many traditions of it's followers) may seem as aggressive towards outsiders, and it's generally only addressed by those trying to tear it down. I would certainly like to see more representatives of Muslim communities publicly speak out against such interpretations, as most Muslims I interact with (family and friends) don't agree with them, but don't necessarily have an in depth understanding of the scripture, or the rhetoric ability to explain their views to the broader public. When the issue has been raised in the past to various imams in the media, the usual answer I saw is one of refusing to answer out of insult and accusations of bigotry, which comes across as suspiciously evasive.
