I've been contemplating going back to chosen flags rather than country flags. I want general thoughts on the idea. Further, if we return to chosen flags, I want suggestions as to what those flags should be for the various sects of Islam.

I'm going to leave it up to you guys. Discuss!

Flags must be a maximum of 48KB and 11-20 x 11-16 pixels.

I would use a general "non-Muslim" flag as this is not a comparative religious studies board. That would include Christian, Jewish, and Atheist.

In reality, I'm rejecting all "movements". Same reason I won't accept Taliban. Alawites are a movement of Twelver Islam.

I can accept that. So long as it fits within the parameters I put in the OP, then it's fine. It is also possible to use transparency. It doesn't actually have to be rectangular. If you have some suggestions or bits of art you've designed, then I'd be appreciative if you'd share. Otherwise, it's me doing all of it and may take a while.

Then again, with such limited interest, we have plenty of time.

There is no denying that they are movements within Sunni schools. That's just how it goes. Also, I specifically said that I don't want flags for them.

Country flags make more sense for political, travel and sport boards imo.

I think religious flags would be more interesting/informative for /islam/…

That would fall under the "non-Muslim" flag. This is a Muslim board, not a religion board.
