Most don't like the term "Wahhabi" because of the implication that they follow a scholar instead of Islam. "Salafi" is the generally accepted term.

I'm neither, so I don't care, but we try to be open/accepting to the various schools of Islam around here.

Islam is incomplete without islamism. Because Allah sent down rules for us to apply and follow in our daily lives. Now the question is what type of islamism? There is obviously the militant jihadist type which will never succeed, because they force people before tazqiyah and tarbiya (self purification). Also their biggest flaw is that they depend on technology that they did not create nor that they can replicate, such as the vehicles and weapons. Add to their close mindedness and takfirism on other muslims (even between salafi, see al qaeda vs isis).

The other type is the more moderate political and movements. Such as the muslim brotherhood in egypt, AKP in turkey and iran. These groups are more flexible and willing to work with others, muslim or not. And they are not prone to the use of violence except for self defense in the case of hamas, and pre 2006 hezbollah.

As I see it our best shot is a united federation of independent islamic republics, like Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia and maybe Qatar. United army, gold currency and share technology. These are the most successful muslim countries that have a strong ikhwan influence.

I don't think the future of islam is one blob state spanning magrheb to asia. That is improbable and impractical. A united states of islam would be more practical and avoid corruption since each state would have an independent head and thus could ensure their loyalty of the quran based constitution.

In the end what matters is that we all want what's best for our ummah and we want to live under shariah law, and the quran is our constitution. We can all agree on the fundamentals and the rest will sort itself out.

Mashallah we are diverse and we should be happy of that fact, I sometimes have changed my mind over some interpretations by listening to other brothers of different schools or branches. None of them are perfect, but they all contain valuable gems and some accurate knowledge, and we need to sift through it.

The main reason why muslims are killing each other is politics, if we are all under one wing against the zionist order, then we will not be fighting over a kingdom of dust and ruin our image to the world.

In short, we have to be open minded and pragmatic, but remain focused on the quran, our mawlana.

Why not separate to an extent? Salafis wouldn't want an Ashari teaching their kids aqidah and vice versa, nothing wrong with that. Each is valid and should have their space. Hanafis want to pray fajr and asr at a certain time so certain mosques will be Hanafi to that extent. Not everybody wants to join a Sufi tariqa or do dawah with the tablighi jamat, no problem.
