If I could make a suggestion. Take your gen ed classes slowly. Most of them should be a cake wake, and not be too hard to do. It's a good idea to take one or two a semester along with your major classes. That way you're not entirely overwhelmed. Sure you'll still have about the same amount of work, but nothing too crazy. You'll be able to keep a decent balance.
