Because the customer is always right :^). Worst part is I legally have to close my store at 9pm so if they take longer than that then they are SOL.

Poor customers. So what if they think they have the right to stay longer? Customer is always right after all~
I think so anyway, but it could just be me.
Even then, if you go to GOG and check the popular games, then https://www.gog.com/game/heroes_of_might_and_magic_3_complete_edition is one of the best games of all time.
You can frequently find a sale too. Sometimes you can buy the entire Might and Magic collection for $10, and the Heroes games as well. Could get Heroes 3 for like $1 during the summer sale.
That's up to you. You could pirate it, but it's on sale right now. If you like it, then yes, there are DLCs which expands the map, and there are quite a few of those too, but is that really surprising considering the game was released 5 years ago and is still undergoing active development?
Most other DLCs are just cosmetics, but people still buy them, mostly to keep supporting the development of the game. Big updates to the game, such as graphics overhauling, better AI and new trucks are all free, even though a new truck takes them a good 8 months to design and implement.

Yep, they are not. They just like to think they are.
Yep Gog has no drm, which is good and bad for them.
Ah that makes sense. But what is it they have cosmetics over?
9a6c14 No.134273
>>134272
Exactly!
Eh, to them, if people wanted to pirate then they'd do it anyway regardless of DRM or not. We know people do this already. So if people pirate a GOG version, then they never lost a sale cause the person wouldn't have bought it anyway.
But as it's DRM-free, customers might choose to get their games through GOG rather than a competitor, since their shit just werks.
I know I do this. DRM games rarely plays well with wine, but everything on GOG just fucking work.
Mostly paintjobs, but also interior items

9a6c14 No.134278

No. Valve does things the right way, so all the updates that Proton receives, goes upstream instead. If Valve fixes stuff in Wine, the patch will be sent to the Wine devs, and they'll merge it.
Same goes for other patches such as the full-screen one and DXVK. This can also be seen from their git repo https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/
Everything are links to their respective projects.
>>134277
Ubisoft makes alright games? Have you been drinking~?
Heh, shame~
I'm sure it'll get better. After Valve started on this in 2016, the state of Wine has improved tremendously. So maybe in a year, most games will work just as well as they do on Windows.
They have. Wine has improved a great deal during the past 2 years alone, and after Valve said they started working hard together with CodeWeavers in 2016, I think much of the reason are due to their effort

9a6c14 No.134280

They ship it with DXVK and other patches. I don't think most distributions ship wine with those patches, so there's that.
But yeah, it really just is a wine-environment manager. Each game gets its own environment, so if Valve deems that some games requires additional DLL files to function properly, they could add those during the installation.
But for the consumer, they can just click "install" followed by "play"

9a6c14 No.134282

Yep, and there was already PlayOnLinux and PlayOnMac for that. It's basically the same thing. This is just implemented in the Steam client, making it easier for you if you want to install games you've purchased on that platform.

>>134284
There's nothing at all special about Proton itself. You can install Wine yourself and configure an environment yourself and install a game inside that environment as well. Tools like PlayOnLinux and Proton just makes this easier.
The only amazing thing about it, is the fact a huge company like Valve is throwing resources into the Wine project, and other projects that makes gaming on Linux more liable, which is the amazing part.
As for Proton being "black magic", it's not.

All the programming!
I'm with a prototyping lab, meaning we get new projects every few weeks that have short deadlines and with very different technologies every time. It's a great environment if you like staying on your toes. Not always easy though.

That sounds mortifying.
Can you make 8chan stop being a buggy pos?
