You folks keep missing the point that during an induction you're conscious to most degrees, meaning YOU aka your conscious mind is aware of what's going on (the voice you're hearing, the body you're relaxing, etc) and when you cross over into actual trance territory YOU aka your conscious mind is basically switched off.
Hypnosis = mainly conscious activity, actual real trance = unconscious activity which the conscious mind aka YOU aren't aware of.
It's not sleep, you're not dropping off into THAT kind of state, YOU aka the conscious mind is simply letting go of being in direct control of what's happening and ceding control to the unconscious and when that happens YOU blank out and have no awareness.
Too many people always presume that when they aka their conscious minds lose track of what's being said or what's going on it means they fell asleep and that's not actually what's happening.
If YOU aka your conscious mind blanks out, congratulations, THAT is trance because it's purely unconscious response so be very happy in those times when YOU aka your conscious mind just lets go and allows the unconscious to have some fun.
And yes, trancing - actual trancing on the unconscious level - does get easier with time because hypnosis/trance is a skill like any other, regular practice allows YOU aka the conscious mind to surrender control over to the unconscious easier as time passes.
It's a very very VERY difficult thing for most folks to grasp, but seriously you're not falling asleep - YOU aka the conscious self is simply getting to a point where it's comfortable enough to say "Ok, I'm good with this, let me give up control for a bit and have some fun…"
Some folks take years, even decades - like myself - to get to that point, sadly, while others "get there" with a lot more ease so again, enjoy it when it happens and have fun with it.
