I hope everyone had a nice Christmas!

Just as a reminder: There will be no release tomorrow. I am currently working on a big ui library update. It is going well so far, and absent any new problems, I still expect to have a new release out on the 3rd of January.

Thank you for this report. I believe this error is a false positive related to the new network engine. I suspect your client attempted to download updates just as I rebooted my server yesterday. please go services->review services->tag repos->PTR->unpause You might want to click the 'refresh account' button on the same page to resync everything. If you do not get this error again within a day, you are good and can ignore it. It was just a one-time bad download.

I have had this from one or two other users in the past month or so and it was a false positive for them as well. I am looking into the underlying issue and at the very least will alter how this error is handled.

thought of something while playing around with zooming

is there any way to focus a zoom in on where the mouse is hovering?

Not yet, but it would be nice to have! I will be doing a full pass in the nearish future on my canvas drawing pipeline, and this would be neat to add at that time.

Can you remember what it was doing before the freeze? Had it been idle for a long time beforehand? Are your settings in options->maintenance and processing set up to do big jobs like db vacuums in idle time like this?

Typically, the program does not freeze completely. It is usually my bad code hanging the gui thread for a while. It pretty much always comes back, but for some of these giant db jobs it can be twenty minutes. My general recommendation is to let it run, and in future set up idle job options to fit your usage

I also say 'just kill the process and restart' if the hang is taking ages, since that is not a big deal 99% of the time, but you couldn't. I haven't heard of not being able to kill the client before. Python isn't typically that rude to OSes–which OS are you on? How were you trying to kill the process?

huh sorry, eventually i got pissed off and just rebooted my PC, but it was froze for a good few hours.

what i do remember is that i left it open overnight and i had barely woken up and started using it again, moments later it just froze. guess its pointless now since its been a few days.
