Good taste as well. I knew I was asking in the right place. My second game will try to improve on the slavemaker/jack-o-nine-tails formula. What do you think those games could have done better? In the end in jack-o-nine tails you just repeat the formula; check aura/ don't spoil, create devotion, develop endurance, train what she needs to be trained into. Slavemaker gives more the feeling that they're unique slaves, but then each one needs to be separately written and besides one or two stats they're mostly similar as well, only with sometimes different possible endings.

I wonder if it's a better choice to generate slaves or pre-write slaves. Though if generating, how do you give them character? That's a kind of challenge I would love to take on once I've made my first game and have some lessons to learn from. Curious to hear your thoughts.

Jack-o-nine-tails has too many redundant options, navigation is a chore, the slave images aren't consistent and slaves aren't unique.

In Slavemaker the training has no depth and most characters while unique still play the same as the training is mostly the same like you mentioned.

Mixing the strengths of slavemaker and Jack-o-nine-tails is a good approach.

Training inspired by Jack-o-nine-tails where apathy, depression, becoming spoiled, escaping and so on is possible.

Somewhat unique characters with own background story and events from slavemaker.

Based on that expand. Add meta game for long term progress, build the world and so on.

I wouldn't use fully pre-written slaves like slavemaker as it has low replayability for the same slave.

A generated character can have a dynamic mix of traits, background story, events, characteristics like love/hate for tasks or being good/bad with certain things.

You know I've been considering how a good Pokemon (Moemon) sex game would work, and there's a few things that've popped in my head that might work for you depending on what you wanna do (or at least spark some ideas). Put simply, work off of variables. Pretty much like how fenoxo did his shit but to a much larger scale (applying across a whole sex scene, or even just simple dialogue). You'd have to be clever about it but there's potential to get quite a bit of complexity and uniqueness from some fairly easy work (compared to just trying to brute force the same effect).

An example for something as complex as a sex scene- Start out with the type of scene {blowjob/missionary/anal/etc}, and how compliant they are {forced/compliant/willing/obsessed}; create a basic structural outline(s) {Initiation/early/middle/climax/reaction}; leave gaps for personality/appearance/skill/completely random variables. Such as when the MC undresses, there'll be a sentence(s) that'll change depending on the character's traits {bitchy/noble/slutty/no usable trait found/etc} or even just how rough their handjob is that particular time for example.

Although, just like programming, how difficult it'd be would entire depend on how clever you are. However there is potential to make nearly every scene extremely different, despite being randomly generated, while potentially taking less time than writing unique scenes for every little character. Of course this can be applied to any type of scene, but sex is a good example.

I can definitely see how one would program that, although I have some doubts about how organic it would feel. It's remarkably hard to creatively and interestingly write that kind of thing when it's written "broad spectrum" so to speak. Because you're forced to do the opposite of what is typically interesting writing; you have to bland enough to fit many different situations/follow ups, whereas good creative writing is all about understanding exactly what is unique about that one moment. I think the end result will often be that all those experiences blend over into each other all too easily. I can see a couple of ways to combat that, but it requires significant planning and a level of writing that I haven't reached yet. I've put it in my notes for later.

I definitely think it's the kind of holy grail that would be great if someone could crack that nut. Still a little beyond my capabilities.

I'm not really sure that is the case. The people that I know that go to chans actually spend an inordinate amount on things like patreons. They pirate a lot and spend a lot in my experience.

I'm making a slavetrainer/dating sim myself and in my observation at least with halfchan's weg thread, the other dev's that post mostly on there have gotten very little, one in particular has a visually impressive, although admittedly some what lacking in story and content game thats making less than $100 after 6+ months on parteon and high praise from that thread, but I guess that might be a case of not branching out and advertising else where.

Thing about Slavemaker is it gets samey after the 10th girl, you usually have a routine to train her and outside her unique events and images she could be generic. I think having a custom girl go through a storyline will make player engage with her more, like Jasmine or Hermione from Akabur, a single girl but the amount of content for her was well worth it. It'd take a small amount of girls that have a ton of content than 100 different girls that have 5 events each.

Yeah, that applies to all events and is the basis of corruption. You slowly coerce the girl into more difficult sex acts but that also reflects on how she views herself.
