The problem is payments. Some of the payment methods of other sites aren't available for Developers not in the US. Patreon has many options for people outside the US, which is why they're unfortunately the only choice for many developers.

And the biggest of these options is Paypal, which others have pointed out won't allow rape / incest, etc. They strong arm companies like Patreon to follow Paypals guidelines as well.
