Over the past few months, there’s been a lot of discussion among our Trust and Safety team about how we can better articulate how we evaluate certain areas of content. It became evident that we needed to outline a clearer stance on some fringe adult content. With today’s update, we’re also being more clear about specific categories of fictional erotic content that Patreon cannot be used to support (including incest, bestiality, sexual depiction of minors, and suggestive sexual violence).

This is going to affect a lot of /htg/ devs.

On the one hand this is going to reduce the number of viable products (although I think big ones like Summertime Shekel will find an alternative given their size and established fanbase), on the other hand this will hopefully give a greater average quality to the remaining (and any new) projects, since it will be less financial incentive and thus only "passionate" devs will continue making their games.

What does /htg/ think about this?

Welp, if I were a dev I'd simply use the patreon as a glorified paypal (or just use paypal, but you don't want to lose on the patreon-exclusive shekels) and set up a website.

It's fucking nothing. I thought this was luckily the end of patreon hack, but alas, all you have to do is swear to god that your game is safe and patreon just won't give a shit. You can still distribute your game through patreon, and you can still link devblogs and the such, even though the rules state you can't but who gives a shit, right?

I was so happy… But now I'm even more bitter. It's obvious that patreon is an hypocrital SJW shit site, and the fact that devs will contribute to it AND make profit out of it is simply disgusting. Way to ruin my day.
