My interpretation is different. GG was a microcosm of something that was already happening in a larger scale. Promotion of Listen&Believe, The Narrative, unethical journalists, media institutions, questionable "social science academics", politicians and political donors who believe and promote an agenda over accurate reporting, accurate research and study, careful law making and application.
Those things were already happening before GG flared up. What made GG different I think was it was the first recorded and observable moment where a group of people did not acquiesce to SocJus bullying tactics. That seemingly small act started a fracture in SocJus armor and their Narrative, and SocJus started biting their own festering wounds.
Without getting too bogged down in the trees, I suggest looking at the big picture for a second. Whatever or whoever politics and politicians you support, look at what it is they are seeking from you. If any of them asks you to justify what you enjoy or have*, even if you are doing no harm to anyone else. Do they really have your best interest at heart?
*For those who want to see some trees, I'll be more specific. Beware of anyone or groups that tries to threaten, cajole, or shame you by asking you to surrender your belonging, your behavior, or your idea, for no good reason other than the sake of -their- ideology.
ie: Why do you need that awful gun? Don't you care about the kids? Why do you need that vidya? Don't you know it's violent and sexist, don't you care about the kids? Why do you need that piece of art that was deemed problematic by us, don't you care about the women and kids? Why do you need that large car, don't you care about mother earth and the kids?
Why are you talking to people we deem problematic? Don't you care that they are literally hitler?
Why are you using your voice? Don't you care that you might offend someone?
